Dispensing of Medication. Medical personnel shall be assigned the responsi- bility to dispense medications to students.
Dispensing of Medication. The District recognizes that nurses dispensing of medication is the preferred option of the District. Employees working in the school buildings may be required to issue medication to students in accordance with the direction of a parent or a guardian. The District is responsible for the proper instruction of employees so required. The District shall indemnify employees who issue medication as directed and instructed as well as employees who train in the dispensing of medication. In schools without a full-time nurse, the secretary may request temporary secretarial assistance.
Dispensing of Medication. I agree that I will not use my own drink (e.g. cans of Coke etc.) immediately after swallowing my medication but will take the drink of water provided. • I understand that I will need to return the empty bottle/cup back to the pharmacist for their disposal. • I realise that the pharmacist is advised to refuse to supply me with my medication if he/she suspects that I am intoxicated and will refer me back to the clinic. This is a safety measure and is meant in my best interest. • I understand that I will be given a dose for the days when the pharmacy is closed e.g. Sundays and Bank Holidays and I will be responsible for this supply. Replacement medication will not be given under any circumstances including ‘lost’, ‘spilled’ or ‘stolen’ doses. • I accept that if I do not attend for my medication, the pharmacist may notify my key worker of my non-attendance, who will inform my prescriber. • I understand that if I miss consecutive supervised doses, the pharmacist is instructed to refuse any further supplies and refer me back to my key worker. • I understand that if I miss a days supply, I will not be able to receive it at a later date. • I agree to attend for my medication alone.
Dispensing of Medication. Bargaining Unit Members may be required to administer medication to pupils only under the following conditions: A. The parents or guardians have given prior written approval for the administration of medication by nonmedical personnel. B. Written instructions from the attending physician must accompany a prescription. C. The Employer shall indemnify and save harmless from any liability Bargaining Unit Members who administer medication to pupils when directed to so do by school supervisory personnel. The Employer’s agreement to indemnify and save harmless shall apply only if the Bargaining Unit Member is acting in the course of that member’s employment in accordance with Board policy and has not engaged in any act or omission which constitutes gross negligence or intentional misconduct as that term is defined by law.
Dispensing of Medication. An employee who may be expected to dispense medications shall, at the direction of her/his supervisor, attend in-service training conducted by a medical professional on procedures to dispense medications to students, unless the employee has been provided training; and has been provided a copy of the current Board Policy relating to the dispensing of medications. Prior to the start of a new school year, an employee who may be expected to dispense medications may request refresher training by a medical professional.
Dispensing of Medication. A. The District may seek volunteers to assist students with medications. Parents, students and physicians will be discouraged from planning the medication of students at school, unless medically necessary. B. The District shall hold district-wide in-service(s) about student medication. Employees shall be advised that dispensing medications is not required, and that failing to volunteer is not a ground for criticizing or disciplining the employee. The District shall annually in-service volunteers. If this in-service does not occur, the remedy shall be to hold the in-service within a reasonable time. C. Employees may be required to dispense medications in an emergency. An emergency is a significant threat to health or life caused by an unpredictable medical event. D. An employee who volunteers must give adequate advance notice to the building administrator if he/she chooses to cease volunteering. E. Volunteers will be indemnified and defended by the employer in any civil proceeding arising out of alleged wrongful act(s) of the volunteer, except for willful or wanton acts.

Dispensing of Medication. No employee covered by this Agreement, except the Nurse Assistant, shall be expected or directed to dispense medication. Employees shall engage in minor first aid activities in accordance with District policies and the job description contained herein. However, no employee shall be required to assume professional responsibilities, including but not limited to those of the school nurses.

Dispensing of Medication. No employee shall be required by the employer to dispense or administer medication except as allowed by state law (RCW 28A.210.260). Medications allowed to be dispensed or administered by coaches/activity advisors include over-the-counter medications and prescriptions for which the student in questions has a valid prescription and parental approval for the dispensing or administration on file at the school. Employees dispensing or administering medication must receive prior training conducted by a Registered Nurse or Licensed Athletic Trainer. At all times, the maintenance, dispensing and administration of medications shall be done in accord with OSD policy and procedure 3416/3416(P). Coaches who have participating students approved to carry and administer their own medications will be notified of this approval. Prior to the start of each season/term, and as may be appropriate during a season/term, coaches/activity advisors will be provided with appropriate information on student health conditions that may require the dispensing or administration of medication or treatment.
