Faculty Recruitment. The following qualities, in decreasing order of importance, shall be sought for in judging candidates: (a) A promising instructing record and/or the prospect of superior instructing performance. (b) A research/scholarship record and/or a prospect of a sustainable research/scholarship record, with demonstrated academic currency, depth, and integrity within their field of interest. (c) Demonstrated service in prior institutions or a prior workplace or in the community. (d) A commitment to undergraduate education, including a focus on the student and a willingness to participate actively in program development.
Faculty Recruitment. 1. Each faculty member at the time of appointment will be informed of the performance expectations and criteria for performance for retention, tenure and promotion. Faculty members will expect these decisions to be made at the appropriate level of expertise (department and college) and not on criteria that are removed from the individual faculty member’s control or interest. All hiring should follow the “The Ethics of Recruitment and Faculty Appointment” adopted by the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences in November 1992, and by the American Association of University Professors in June 1993. Specifically, the following section from that document is included to specify the procedures to follow: Prior to the announcement of a faculty vacancy, there should be agreement among all responsible parties on each major element of the position (e.g., rank, salary and eligibility for tenure), how the position relates to the department’s (or equivalent unit’s) likely needs for the future, the expectations concerning the professional work of the faculty member(s) being recruited, and the resources that will be provided to help the faculty member(s) meet those expectations. 2. It is important that research and instructional support be clearly linked to research and instructional expectations and made clear at the time of hiring. 3. Faculty recruitment is primarily the responsibility of the departments or other academic units involved. Staffing lines for tenure-track faculty are restricted to academic departments. Although the department chair or designee will coordinate activities, department members, or a committee representing them, and the unit xxxx shall be involved in the review of credentials and interview with candidates. An offer may be made only after departmental faculty and other appropriate parties have been consulted and a written approval by the department submitted through the xxxx to the Chief Academic Officer. Faculty recruitment shall be subject to the provisions of the University’s affirmative action programs. 4. Only the president or the Chief Academic Officer, or the president’s specifically appointed delegate is authorized to make an offer of appointment on behalf of the University, and only those terms of employment which are made in writing to the appointees shall be binding upon the University.

  • Recruitment When advertising for employees, the contractor will include in all advertisements for employees the notation: "An Equal Opportunity Employer." All such advertisements will be placed in publications having a large circulation among minorities and women in the area from which the project work force would normally be derived. a. The contractor will, unless precluded by a valid bargaining agreement, conduct systematic and direct recruitment through public and private employee referral sources likely to yield qualified minorities and women. To meet this requirement, the contractor will identify sources of potential minority group employees, and establish with such identified sources procedures whereby minority and women applicants may be referred to the contractor for employment consideration. b. In the event the contractor has a valid bargaining agreement providing for exclusive hiring hall referrals, the contractor is expected to observe the provisions of that agreement to the extent that the system meets the contractor's compliance with EEO contract provisions. Where implementation of such an agreement has the effect of discriminating against minorities or women, or obligates the contractor to do the same, such implementation violates Federal nondiscrimination provisions. c. The contractor will encourage its present employees to refer minorities and women as applicants for employment. Information and procedures with regard to referring such applicants will be discussed with employees.

  • Periodic Recruitment The State reserves the right to add new Contractors during the term of the Centralized Contract via periodic recruitment. OGS will formally announce when the periodic recruitment Solicitation is issued. It is at the discretion of OGS when a future periodic recruitment shall commence. A periodic recruitment will be publicly announced through all standard means including, but not limited to: the NYS Contract Reporter; and OGS website. All OGS Centralized Contracts awarded under the Periodic Recruitment will commence upon OGS approval. All Contracts will co-terminate on the then current end date of the Centralized Contract or at the end of any approved extension or renewal period

  • Non-Recruitment The Executive agrees that the Company has invested substantial time and effort in assembling its present workforce. Accordingly, the Executive covenants and agrees that during the Term and the Post-Termination Period, he shall not, directly or indirectly through any other person or entity, solicit, induce or influence (other than pursuant to general, non-targeted public media advertisements), or attempt to solicit, induce or influence, any employee of the Company to leave his or her employment.

  • Non-Recruitment of Employees During the Restricted Period, Executive will not, directly or indirectly, solicit, recruit or induce any Employee to (i) terminate his or her employment relationship with the Company or any of its Subsidiaries or (ii) work for any other person or entity engaged in the Business.

  • Faculty a. All instructors teaching dual credit courses must meet the College’s academic requirements as outlined by SACSCOC Faculty Credentialing requirements, as determined by the College. All instructors teaching dual credit classes at the School site must be approved and hired as faculty by the College prior to teaching dual credit courses. The faculty credentialing process used by the College for faculty on the College site will apply for faculty on the School site. The College will designate staff in the respective discipline to supervise and evaluate the faculty on the School site using the same or comparable procedures used with faculty on the College site. b. Faculty on the School site will be evaluated at least annually by the College or on a comparable schedule as Faculty on the College site. c. All Faculty, regardless of where the delivery of instruction occurs, must adhere to applicable Alamo Colleges District and College policies and procedures, particularly sections E, F and H. Alamo Colleges District policies are accessible at: xxxxx://xxx.xxxxx.xxx/about-us/leadership/board-of-trustees/board-policies/ . d. When unforeseen situations arise and the instructor scheduled to teach a course for the College cannot deliver instruction through the entirety of the scheduled course, the School Principal or designee will immediately notify the College’s Office of High School Programs. The College, as per SACSCOC guidelines, must identify a credentialed instructor that can teach the remainder of the college course. An instructor that has not been credentialed and approved by the College may not serve as a substitute to teach the remainder or any portion of a college course. If the instructor identified by the College to teach the remaining portion or any portion of the course is employed by the College, the School District will be responsible to pay the College for the compensation for the period of service of the identified instructor. e. Instructors teaching dual credit courses at the School will be either high school teachers credentialed by the respective College Faculty Chairs adhering to SACSCOC guidelines or faculty from the respective discipline at the College. The cost-sharing model approved by the Alamo Colleges District Board of Trustees is based on which party pays the instructor. Please refer to Section 29 - Fiscal Matters herein. The School District is highly encouraged to hire teachers approved by the College as adjunct instructors to teach dual credit courses. The School District is encouraged to provide incentives to have instructors earn the college hours required for qualification and should coordinate approval of eligibility with the College. f. Student evaluation of instruction takes place each semester and will be a part of the faculty annual evaluation process, regardless of where the dual credit courses are offered. Performance evaluation of all dual credit faculty will adhere to College and Academic Division protocols and schedules as it pertains to all other College adjunct faculty, per SACSCOC requirements, as well as those required by the Texas Education Agency. g. Faculty teaching dual credit courses will teach using the respective course syllabus that contains the Student Learning Objectives (Herein referred to as “SLOs”). Faculty based on the School site must upload course syllabi onto Concourse, the College’s official reporting system. h. Dual Credit classes may include both ECHS and traditional dual credit students. Dual Credit students constitute those in traditional Dual Credit or ECHS. i. At the end of each semester, all faculty, regardless of where the instruction is delivered, must submit the End of Semester Clearance report to the designated College department chair by the final grades deadline. j. To adhere to the requirements outlined in House Bill 2504 (“HB2504”), all faculty will publish a curriculum vitae that will include post-secondary education and teaching experience on the official system of record where the course syllabus taught by faculty are maintained.

  • Recruitment and Retention Avenal, Ironwood, Calipatria and Chuckawalla Valley Prisons A. Effective July 1, 1998, employees who are employed at Avenal, Ironwood, Calipatria or Chuckawalla Valley State Prisons, Department of Corrections, for twelve (12) consecutive qualifying pay periods, shall be eligible for a recruitment and retention bonus of $2,400, payable thirty (30) days following the completion of the twelve (12) consecutive qualifying pay periods. B. If an employee voluntarily terminates, transfers, or is discharged prior to completing twelve (12) consecutive pay periods at Avenal, Ironwood, Calipatria, or Chuckawalla State Prisons, there will be no pro rata payment for those months at either facility. C. If an employee is mandatorily transferred by the department, he/she shall be eligible for a pro rata share for those months served. D. If an employee promotes to a different facility or department other than Avenal, Ironwood, Calipatria or Chuckawalla Valley State Prisons prior to completion of twelve (12) consecutive qualifying pay periods, there shall be no pro rata of this recruitment and retention bonus. After completing the twelve (12) consecutive qualifying pay periods, an employee who promotes within the Department will be entitled to a pro rata share of the existing retention bonus. E. Part-time and intermittent employees shall receive a pro rata share of the annual recruitment and retention differential based on the total number of hours worked excluding overtime during the twelve (12) consecutive qualifying pay periods. F. Annual recruitment and retention payments shall not be considered as compensation for purposes of retirement contributions. G. Employees on IDL shall continue to receive this stipend. H. If an employee is granted a leave of absence, the employee will not accrue time towards the twelve (12) qualifying pay periods, but the employee shall not be required to start the calculation of the twelve (12) qualifying pay periods all over. For example, if an employee has worked four (4) months at a qualifying institution, and then takes six (6) months’ maternity leave, the employee will have only eight (8) additional qualifying pay periods before receiving the initial payment of 2,400.

  • TRAINING AND EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT 9.1 The Employer and the Union recognize the value and benefit of education and training designed to enhance an employee’s ability to perform their job duties. Training and employee development opportunities will be provided to employees in accordance with Employer policies and available resources. 9.2 Attendance at employer-required training will be considered time worked. The Employer will make reasonable attempts to schedule employer-required training during an employee’s regular work shift. The Employer will pay the registration and associated travel costs in accordance with Article 23, Travel, for employer-required training.

  • Students Payments which a student or business apprentice who is or was immediately before visiting a Contracting State a resident of the other Contracting State and who is present in the first-mentioned State solely for the purpose of his education or training receives for the purpose of his maintenance, education or training shall not be taxed in that State, provided that such payments arise from sources outside that State.
