Search Committees. Subd.
1. At least one (1) Association representative selected by the Campus Association President shall be included on any search committee established by the Employer for the purpose of making recommendations with regard to the filling of a vacancy within the bargaining unit. The number of ASF Members on the committee will not be exceeded by the membership from any other bargaining unit.
Search Committees. All ranked faculty members will be hired in accordance with a search procedure which includes the recommendation of a search committee, the majority of whose members shall come from the academic department in which the hire is to take place, if they are available.
Search Committees. (i) In Departmentalized Faculties, the department may choose to constitute a search committee in lieu of the Academic Department Assessment Committee for assessing an appointment under (a)(i) or (b)(i). The search committee will begin work after posting of the job advertisement. The composition of a search committee shall be determined by the same procedures in 25A.02 and 25A.03 except persons who are to be assessed for probation, promotion or tenure in a given year shall be eligible to serve. If a department does not elect to create a search committee, the department may create a subcommittee to assist and advise the Academic Department Assessment Committee.
(ii) In non-Departmentalized Faculties, the Faculty Council may choose to constitute a search committee in lieu of the Faculty Assessment Committee for assessing an appointment under (a)(i) or (b)(i). The search committee will begin work after posting of the job advertisement. The composition of a search committee shall be determined by the same procedures in 25A.02 and 25A.04 except persons who are to be assessed for probation, promotion or tenure in a given year shall be eligible to serve. If a non-Departmentalized Faculty does not elect to create a search committee, the Faculty may create a subcommittee to assist and advise the Faculty Assessment Committee.
Search Committees. Ranked Employees Search Committee - This committee conducts searches for new “academic rank” faculty (Ex. “A”). It is comprised of the Department Chair/Director and any ranked faculty member in the department with continuing appointment who wishes to serve. In Departments where fewer than three department members have rank and continuing appointment, the Committee shall be the Chair/Director and up to three other ranked faculty with continuing appointment from outside the department having helpful perspectives on the search, one of whom must have continuing appointment within the division sponsoring the search. The Committee shall include a person appointed by the President of the College. Professional Employees Search Committee – Conducts searches for “professional” faculty (Ex. “A”). It is comprised of the Department Chair/Director and any faculty member with continuing appointment who wishes to serve. In Departments where fewer than three department members have continuing appointment, the Committee shall be the Chair/Director, and up to three other faculty from outside the Department with continuing appointment having helpful perspectives on the search, one of whom must be a professional faculty with continuing appointment from the Division sponsoring the search. The Committee shall include a person appointed by the President of the College.
Search Committees. (a) The Xxxx or the Associate Xxxx will coordinate the selection of the Search Committee.
(b) A Search Committee will have no more than seven (7) and no fewer than five (5) members excluding the Chair of the Committee. The Chair of the Committee is non-voting. Search Committees will be constituted as follows:
i) the Xxxx or the Associate Xxxx who will Chair the Committee;
ii) the Chair, Program Coordinator or Director of the hiring academic unit;
iii) at least two (2) but no more than four (4) tenured or tenure-track Members from the academic unit elected by the Members of the academic unit;
iv) at least one (1) additional Member from a different academic unit than the hiring unit selected by the hiring academic unit;
v) where the Members of the academic unit so choose, one (1) student (undergraduate or graduate) selected by the Members of the hiring academic unit;
vi) where the Members of the academic unit so choose, one (1) CASBU Member selected by the Members of the hiring academic unit; and
vii) where an academic unit has fewer than two (2) tenured or tenure-track Members (excluding the Chair, Director, or Program Coordinator), Faculty Council will select the Members to serve on the Search Committee.
Search Committees. 7.2.1 Faculty of Theology Search Committee
(a) When the President has granted approval to initiate a search for a tenure stream or CLTA appointment to the Faculty, the Xxxx shall establish a Search Committee consisting of seven (7) persons as follows:
(i) The Xxxx, who shall serve as chair of the committee;
(ii) Two (2) Members in the Faculty appointed by the Faculty Council, including at least one (1) Member with Advanced Degree status;
(iii) One (1) Member in the Faculty appointed by the President;
(iv) One (1) student in the Faculty appointed by the Student Life Committee at the Faculty; and
(v) One (1) faculty member from the Toronto School of Theology who is appointed by the Director of the Toronto School of Theology.
(vi) One (1) tenured University of Toronto faculty member, normally at the rank of full professor, from a cognate program or discipline with specialized knowledge of the discipline, chosen by the Office of the Vice President at the University of Toronto with the agreement of the President, and who may also serve as the Provostial assessor if agreed. In the event there is not agreement to have the tenured University of Toronto faculty member also serve as the Provostial assessor, then the Office of the Vice President and Xxxxxxx at the University of Toronto, with the agreement of the President, are to appoint a Provostial assessor from the University of Toronto to act as a non-voting member of the committee to speak to process and policy standards.
7.2.2 Librarian Search Committee
(a) When the President has granted approval to initiate a search for a librarian appointment, the Chief Librarian shall establish a Search Committee consisting of seven (7) persons as follows:
(i) The Chief Librarian, who shall serve as chair of the committee;
(ii) Three (3) members in the Library at or above the rank being hired who are appointed by the Joint Senate/College Council Library Committee;
(iii) One (1) professional librarian from the University of Toronto Libraries at or above the rank being hired who is appointed by the President;
(iv) One (1) Member in the Faculty appointed by the Faculty Council; and
(v) One (1) student appointed by the St. Michael’s College Student Union.
Search Committees. For Xxxxxx Library only, the Bargaining Unit shall be allowed at least one representative on search committees for Associate Xxxx or Director. The Chief Xxxxxxx shall provide the name of an individual for nomination to the search committee. The Xxxx or his/her designee shall have the right to reject the individual nominated by the Chief Xxxxxxx and request that a different name be forwarded provided that the reasons for such rejection are in writing and are not arbitrary or capricious in nature. In the case of the search for the Xxxx of Library Affairs, the Chief Xxxxxxx shall forward the name of an individual for nomination to the search committee. The Xxxxxxx or his/her designee shall have the right to reject the individual nominated by the Chief Xxxxxxx and request another name be forwarded provided that the reasons for such rejection are in writing and are not arbitrary or capricious in nature.
Search Committees. 7.2.1 Faculty of Theology Search Committee
(a) When the President has granted approval to initiate a search for a tenure stream or CLTA appointment to the Faculty of Theology, the Xxxx shall establish a Search Committee consisting of seven (7up to eight (8) persons as follows:
(i) The Xxxx, who shall serve as chair of the committee;
(ii) Two (2) Members in the Faculty of Theology appointed by the Faculty Council, including at least one (1) Member with Advanced Degree status;
(iii) One (1) Member in the Faculty of Theology appointed by the President;
(iv) One (1) student in the Faculty of Theology appointed by the Student Life Committee at the Faculty; and
(v) One (1) faculty member from the Toronto School of Theology who is appointed by the Director of the Toronto School of Theology.
(vi) One (1) tenured University of Toronto faculty member, normally at the rank of full professor, from a cognate program or discipline with specialized knowledge of the discipline, chosen by the Office of the Vice President at the University of Toronto with the agreement of the President, and who may also serve as the Provostial assessor if agreed. In the event there is not agreement by the Office of the Vice President and Xxxxxxx at the University of Toronto to have the tenured University of Toronto faculty member also serve as the Provostial assessor, then the Office of the Vice President and Xxxxxxx at the University of Toronto, with the agreement of the President, areis to appoint a Provostial assessor from the University of Toronto to act as a non-voting member of the committee to speak only to process and policy standards.
Search Committees. A. Used for replacing the department head (OA) and full-time assistant directors (non- bargaining unit members). Committee members are appointed by the Director or designee and University procedures are followed. [Membership could include CNTTF].
B. CNTTF and Pro Tem are hired via Unclassified Personnel Services’ rules and regulations.
Search Committees. (1) When administrative vacancies occur, the President of the College will notify the President of the Federation.
(2) The President of the College may request that a Search Committee be formed to assist in the screening process.
(3) The composition of the Committee shall include Faculty members selected by the President of the Faculty Federation.
(4) Upon determining the best qualified applicant, the Committee will transmit its recommendations to the College President, who will then take action on the appointment.
