Formal Level - Level I a. Within thirty (30) days after the occurrence of the act or omission giving rise to the grievance, the grievant or his/her representative must present his/her grievance in writing on the appropriate form to his/her immediate supervisor.

The immediate supervisor and grievant with his/her representative, if any, shall meet within five (5) days after receipt of the written grievance. The immediate supervisor shall communicate his/her decision in writing on the prescribed form within five (5) days after the meeting. The response shall include the reasons upon which the decision was based. Level II In the event the grievant is not satisfied with the decision at Level I, the grievant may appeal the decision by completing the prescribed form (see Appendix F2) and submitting it to the Superintendent or designee, or his/her designee, within ten (10) days after receiving the decision from Level I. Within five (5) days following the appeal, the Association shall so notify the California State Mediation and Conciliation Service (CSMCS). CSMCS shall appoint a mediator who meets the minimum qualifications as set forth in paragraph #1 in the “Miscellaneous” section and shall schedule a mediation conference at the earliest possible date. Mediation conferences shall take place at a mutually convenient location and time. Each party shall designate its representatives for the mediation conference.
