Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers. 8.4.6.1 Teachers that have achieved certification as a Highly Accomplished Teacher or a Lead Teacher will receive an allowance in accordance with clause 8.3.1 for the duration of the period that the certification is valid.

Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers. (4.16) • The common provisions between the existing HAT and LT provisions have been condensed into one set of provisions without changing entitlements. Recognition of Additional Qualifications prior to Commencing (4.19) • The clause has been changed to make it clear that it only applies to employees who have attained more than 1 degree or a degree plus an honours year in addition to the required teacher qualification to be entitled to an extra salary level. Hours of Work (4.22) • The clause notes the hours of work for teachers are outlined in Schedule 3 of the proposed EA. Schedule 3 – Hours of Duty Teachers • The provisions relating to the hours of work were previously scattered through the current EA making it difficult to understand the relevant provisions. • Without changing conditions, a number of provisions are now located in Schedule 3, including: - Meal breaks - Rest pauses - Composite classes - Resident teachers Composite classes • Provisions have been included for consideration to be given to adjusting the hours of work when a teacher is required to teach a composite class. • Considerations will take into account: - experience of the teacher; - subject area(s) the teacher is qualified to teach; - the subject areas and year level(s) of the composite class; and - available resourcing.
Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers. (a) A Teacher will be classified as Band 4 (Highly Accomplished /Lead Teacher) from the commencement of the first full pay period after a Teacher has been accredited or certified as a Highly Accomplished Teacher or as a Lead Teacher. (b) Accreditation or certification as a Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher is voluntary. The cost of applying for accreditation or certification as a Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher must be met by the Teacher. (c) The schools recognise that Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers make an important contribution to their schools and communities by modelling high quality teaching for their colleagues and leading other Teachers in the development and refinement of their teaching practice to improve student learning outcomes. The school may allocate a Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher to provide mentoring, coaching or training to other Teachers. (d) A Teacher classified at Band 4 (Highly Accomplished /Lead Teacher) will not be eligible to be paid both an allowance or salary for a promotion position and the Band 4 salary, if and to the extent that this would result in the Teacher receiving a rate of pay in excess of that applicable to Band 4. A Teacher holding a promotion position who is classified at Band 4 may elect to be either paid for the promotion position (and not at Band 4) or at Band 4, whichever is the higher. (e) Where a Teacher’s accreditation or certification as a Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher is not maintained, the Teacher will revert to the applicable classification based on the Teacher’s accreditation and experience from commencement of the first full pay period after the date that it is not maintained.
Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers. ‌ 5.4.1 Overview 5.4.1.1 Highly Accomplished Teachers (HAT) and Lead Teachers (LT) are teachers who have been certified at the HAT or LT career stage of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST) through the national process, applied by the Certifying Authority in each participating State or Territory, and who are currently nationally recognised. 5.4.1.2 Certification is for five years (the certification period), at which time it must be renewed to continue. 5.4.1.3 There will be no quotas on applicants or successfully certified HAT or LT classifications. 5.4.1.4 The basis for certification as a HAT or LT is recognition of professional standards, not undertaking of additional duties.
Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers. (HALT) are Teachers certified by AITSL (Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership) according to Highly Accomplished Teachers - certification documentary evidence and Lead Teachers – certification documentary evidence. The School will adhere to any updates in AITSL certification process, assessment and renewal guidance.
