Holiday Observance When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be observed as the holiday. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be observed as the holiday.
Observance of Holidays The Board of Trustees may establish calendars that observe holidays on dates other than those listed above, or as modified by current institutional practices.
WEEKEND AND HOLIDAY DELIVERIES Unless otherwise specified in the Bid Specifications or by an Authorized User, deliveries will be scheduled for ordinary business hours, Monday through Friday (excluding legal holidays observed by the State of New York). Deliveries may be scheduled by mutual agreement for Saturdays, Sundays or legal holidays observed by the State of New York where the Product is for daily consumption, an emergency exists, the delivery is a replacement, delivery is late, or other reasonable circumstance in which event the convenience of the Authorized User shall govern.
Observance (a) When a holiday specified in Section 1 of this Article falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be recognized as the holiday. When a holiday specified in Section 1 of this Article falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be recognized as the holiday. (b) When a holiday specified in Section 1 of this Article falls on a regularly scheduled day off, the employee shall have the choice of receiving an alternate eight (8) hours of compensatory straight time or straight-time pay. Part-time, seasonal, and job share employees will receive a prorated amount of compensatory time or straight-time pay based on the calculation in Section 3(b). (c) However, the Parties recognize that some positions must be staffed on holidays, and that employees in these positions cannot be released from duty on those holidays. Part (a) of this Section shall not apply to employees in these positions and the holiday shall be observed on the actual day specified in Section 1. Employees filling such positions will be notified in writing prior to hiring or when their work assignment is changed that they may have to work on certain holidays.
HOLIDAYS AND HOLIDAY PAY 165. 1. A holiday is calculated based on an eight hour day. The following days are designated as holidays: January 1 ( New Year's Day) the third Monday in January (Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx, Xx.'s birthday) the third Monday in February (Presidents' Day) the last Monday in May (Memorial Day) July 4 (Independence Day) the first Monday in September (Labor Day) the second Monday in October (Columbus Day) November 11 (Veterans' Day) Thanksgiving Day the day after Thanksgiving December 25 (Christmas Day) 166. Provided further, if January 1, July 4, November 11 or December 25 falls on a Sunday, the Monday following is a holiday.
Religious Observance 47.1 The Council shall make every reasonable effort to accommodate an employee who requests time off to fulfill his religious obligations. 47.2 Employees may, in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement, request annual leave, compensatory leave, leave without pay for other reasons or a shift exchange (in the case of a shift worker) in order to fulfill their religious obligations. 47.3 Notwithstanding clause 47.2, at the request of the employee and at the discretion of the Council, time off with pay may be granted to the employee in order to fulfill his religious obligations. The number of hours with pay so granted must be made up hour for hour within a period of six (6) months, at times agreed to by the Council. Hours worked as a result of time off granted under this clause shall not be compensated nor should they result in any additional payments by the Council. 47.4 An employee who intends to request leave or time off under this Article must give notice to the Council as far in advance as possible but not later than four (4) weeks before the requested period of absence.
Holiday Coinciding with a Day of Vacation Where an employee is on vacation leave and a day of paid holiday falls within that period, the paid holiday shall not count as a day of vacation.
Weekend Holidays 9.3.1. A full-time employee who works a Monday through Friday schedule and the calendar holiday falls on a Saturday, the employee shall be allowed the preceding day off. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the employee shall be allowed the following day off. If the employee works the day preceding or following such a holiday, he/she shall be given another workday off with pay or shall receive payment for that day at the regular rate. 9.3.2. A full-time employee who works other than a Monday through Friday schedule and who is not scheduled to work on a calendar holiday shall be given at the discretion of the Employer (1) another scheduled workday off with pay, or (2) an additional day's pay at his/her regular rate if funds are available.
OVERTIME AND HOLIDAY PAY 5.3.1 All hours worked by an employee in excess of eight (8) hours per shift and in excess of forty (40) straight time hours per week shall be paid for at the rate of one and one-half times the straight time rate. All hours worked by an employee in excess of ten (10) hours per shift and all hours worked on Sunday shall be paid at the rate of double the straight time rate. 5.3.2 Additional holidays recognized in the Construction Industry in each geographical area will be observed on all work covered by this Appendix.
Paid Holidays – Long Weekends (a) When an employee is scheduled to work a weekend where a paid holiday falls on the Monday or the Friday, the Employer shall endeavour to also schedule the employee to work the paid holiday. (b) When the employee is scheduled off on a weekend where a paid holiday falls on the Monday or the Friday, the Employer shall endeavour to schedule the employee off the paid holiday. (c) In the event of a scheduling conflict, 12.07 (a) will be the deciding provision.
