Homestay Policy. Two weeks’ notice must be given to book a homestay or student residence. If the School arranges homestay accommodation for you, the minimum period will be four weeks or the full course if shorter. All homestay fees must be paid in full before placement in accommodation. Students who have not paid the homestay fees in full will not be placed in a homestay. The homestay placement fee, homestay fee and the ongoing administration must be paid two weeks in advance. (continued on the right side) The administration fees and the placement fee for this period are non-refundable. All homestay students must follow the Homestay Rules as set out in the Student Handbook. If the student moves out of the homestay, both the host family and the Schools must receive 2 weeks’ notice of the student’s intention to leave. The balance of the pre-paid homestay fee which remains refunded, minus any costs recoverable by the Schools. If a student goes on an approved holiday and wishes to return to the homestay, 50% of the weekly fee will be charged. Two week’s notice is required before going on holiday.

Homestay Policy. I agree that student’s safety is of paramount importance to the Board and that parents and students must respect and adhere to the established policy. I understand that violation will result in removal from the Program. I understand that international students who are under the age of 12 are accepted only if the following conditions are satisfied: ◻ A parent must accompany the child, reside full-time in Thunder Bay, and provide care and custodianship for their child. If the parent(s) must leave Thunder Bay (i.e. return to home country) while the child is enrolled in the international program, the child must go with them. ◻ If requested, the District will permit students under the age of 12 to reside with a direct relative. Direct relative is defined to mean that the parent(s) are related to the individual by bloodline or by marriage. If the child is to be cared for by a relative, as defined above, then the parent(s) and the relative must provide the Board with a letter of verification that has been notarized by a lawyer stating that the relationship is in compliance with this policy. I understand that international students that are 12 years of age and older are accepted only if the following conditions are satisfied: ◻ I acknowledge that it is mandatory for students to live with a homestay family, if the student is 12 years old or older, that consists of at least one adult of twenty-five (25) years of age or older. ◻ I acknowledge that, if at any time, the student is not living in a homestay, the Board’s policy may lead to immediate dismissal from the program. ◻ If the student is living with a parent, the parent must not leave Thunder Bay while their child is enrolled in our program. If the parent must leave Thunder Bay, they are required to make the necessary homestay arrangements to cover for their absence and notify the Board of these changes.

Homestay Policy. Westlake Girls High School will make every endeavour to ensure the safety and welfare of the student while studying in the school. Should there be a concern about the welfare of the student, the school will consult the pastoral care staff within the school and will discuss the concern with the designated caregivers and parents of the students. Should Westlake Girls High School have any concerns regarding the welfare of the student, the school may relocate the student to an approved School Homestay. If necessary, the school will also refer the matter to the relevant welfare authorities or any other appropriate outside agencies. Agents acting on behalf of students are not eligible to be the accommodation carer as this could potentially place them in a conflict of interest situation whereby they are contracted by the provider for recruitment but obligated to the parent as a designated caregiver. The school will ensure that accommodation for all International students is compliant with the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International students.
