Informal Classroom Observations. The Principal, Assistant Principals, and other administrators designated as evaluators by the Principal may additionally conduct as many informal classroom observations as they deem necessary, without prior notice to the teacher. Informal observations may be used in furtherance of the purposes of teacher evaluation identified at the beginning of this Article, but shall not be included in the calculation of a teacher’s summative rating.

Informal Classroom Observations. The principal or assistant principal may additionally conduct as many informal classroom observations as they deem necessary, without prior notice to the teacher. At least two informal observations must be used in the calculation of a teacher's summative evaluation rating, but no more than three informal observations may be so used. If the informal observation is to be used in the calculation of the teacher's summative rating, it must be at least fifteen minutes in duration and must not have occurred during testing. Informal observations may focus on evaluating only a subset of the Xxxxxxxxx Xxxxxxxxx Framework for Teaching Domains (as set forth in Appendix E) but Domain 4 will not be evaluated during informal observations. The observer shall notify the teacher within two school days of the informal observation if s/he intends to use an informal observation in the calculation of a teacher's summative rating. Upon request of the teacher or at the discretion of the observer, informal classroom observations may be followed by a post-observation conference. Teacher requests should be made within five school days of the informal observation and should be submitted by email.

The teacher summative evaluation may also be informed by informal unannounced observations. The evaluator shall provide feedback written and/or verbal concerning the content of the informal observation within five (5) days of the informal observation. The evaluator and teacher may opt to have a conference to discuss the contents of the informal observation. Any observations conducted by coaches, AVID team members, Director of School Climate, or any other persons other than the certified evaluators shall not be considered or included in any teacher evaluations in any form.
