Insurance Participation. An employee on unpaid leave is eligible to participate in group insurance programs if permitted under the insurance policy provisions, but shall pay the entire premium for such program as the employee wishes to retain, commencing with the beginning of the unpaid leave. The right to continue participation in such group insurance programs, however, will terminate if the employee does not return to the School District pursuant to this section.
Insurance Participation. Retirees from the school corporation and their spouse shall be allowed to remain on the group health, dental and vision plans until the first (1st) day of the month following their eligibility for Medicare, provided the retiree pays 100% of the premiums. A retiree is defined as a teacher who meets the criteria as established by state law (IC 5-10-8-2.6).
Insurance Participation. An employee on leave of absence for disability may participate in the group insurance coverage provided in this Agreement for which the employee is qualified by paying 100% of the premium cost in advance each month.
Insurance Participation. Any teacher who is on extended unpaid leave pursuant to this Article and who desires continuing insurance policies provided by the Board shall be eligible for participation in the program and shall pay the premium for same.
Insurance Participation. Teachers on an approved leave of absence, established by Article VIII, may elect to continue to participate in the hospital/medical and dental insurance programs. A Teacher electing to so participate shall pay the full, monthly-premium cost for which the Teacher is eligible and enrolled.

The teacher must pay the entire premium during the period of such leave. If a teacher is on an ULA and a spouse is employed by the district, the District will only contribute the portion identified under family coverage. Dual employment language will not apply.

A bargaining unit member on unpaid leave may participate in any insurance program provided for hereunder at his/her own expense, but only to the extent permitted by the insurance carrier and in accordance with the provisions of Federal Law AKA COBRA and in accordance with Board Policy relating to the Family Medical Leave Act.

An employee who retires under IMRF from the District or is age sixty (60) or older may elect to, at the employee’s own expense, continue to participate in the District’s group health plan so long as the insurance company, writing such coverage, continues to approve such participation. Probationary and part-time employees may participate in the medical and dental plans provided, either in the family or individual coverage’s, at their own expense, subject to provider requirements and limitations.

Any principal placed on unrequested leave of absence shall remain eligible for all principal insurance benefit plans if he/she is not employed in another job in which insurance benefits are available. The principal must pay the entire premium during the period of such leave. If a principal is on an ULA and a spouse is employed by the district, the District will only contribute the portion identified under family coverage. Dual employment language will not apply.
