This arrangement must be handled by the building principal or his/her designee. Employees will be compensated for internal substituting at the rate of thirty-five cents (35) per class minute. Substitute payment will be included in that pay period’s paycheck when a teacher loses part of their prep time during that day that cannot be found elsewhere.
Internal Substitutes. If a teacher is asked to substitute during his/her scheduled lunch or scheduled planning period per the master schedule for an absent teacher, the teacher will be compensated at the rate of $25.00 per period. (Refer to Payroll Procedures timeline)

Internal Substitutes. A teacher who is requested by the principal and agrees to cover a class for an absent teacher during his/her planning and conference period shall be compensated at the rate of $20.00 per work assignment.
Internal Substitutes. A. Each teacher may be required to provide substitute services in lieu of a planning period if assigned by the administration. The selection of the teacher shall first be from a staff volunteer list. If there are no qualified people on the list or individuals reject the assignment then the administration may assign a teacher.

Except where the Superintendent and/or Principal deem it an emergency, a regularly employed teacher will not be required to cover for an absent teacher. Internal Substitutes. After exhausting all regular means to hire a substitute teacher, principals (or designees) may hire an internal substitute. The principals (or designees) may request that certified personnel that do not have direct student responsibilities be hired as the internal substitute. The certified personnel may accept or decline the request. The internal substitute will be compensated at the internal substitute rate designated in Appendix B. The internal substitute rate of pay is not subject to building Site-Based School Improvement Team discretion.
Internal Substitutes. An external substitute for each class is the best policy. However, a payment of $120 per day will be distributed equally to those teachers who accommodate 4 or more students from a class without a substitute teacher for an entire day. (Example: 3 teachers who take a third of the students from one classroom for an entire day will each receive $40 pay for that day). Teachers accommodating extra students for half a day will be given equal portions of half of the internal substitute reimbursement pay. If a teacher takes on an entire class in addition to their own, they will be given the full internal substitute reimbursement for the class period(s)
