Mentoring Program. It is recognized that the induction of new teachers through a formalized mentoring program will help to promote excellence in teaching and improve student achievement. The focus of this program will be to build a supportive environment for new teachers within the context of school improvement. Veteran teachers may be asked or encouraged to mentor a new staff member but will not be required to do so. Mentors will be compensated for this work N. Moving Classrooms: Employees who are asked to change classrooms or offices will be provided the assistance of district personnel in moving boxes and/or large items.
Mentoring Program. A. Mentoring Program implemented in 2001-02 school year:
1. A stipend of $1,000 will be paid per year for each active mentor and facilitator.
2. All obligations under this agreement to compensate teachers involved in the mentoring program will be dependent on and are conditional on continued state funding of the program at current levels and receipt of such funding by the District.
Mentoring Program. 1. Instructional Assistants applying to serve as a mentor shall satisfy the following criteria: (a) A minimum of three years of successful experience within the school, (b) positive recommendation from the building principal, or his or her designee, and (c) full participation in a one day mentor training program.
2. Instructional Assistants serving as mentors shall provide constructive feedback to the new instructional assistants, model professional behavior, maintain confidentiality regarding students, and participate in the evaluation of the mentoring program.
3. It is understood that the mentoring program shall not be tied to any formal evaluation procedure for Instructional Assistants.
4. Subject to the District retaining the right to determine whether or not a mentor shall be assigned and the length of any such assignment, all new employees shall be assigned a mentor if a sufficient number of mentors are available. New employees shall be given an orientation to their job duties at the beginning of their employment and, subject to sufficient staff levels, permitted to shadow a mentor or other experienced staff person for one full day.
5. Instructional Assistant mentors shall be paid $75.00 per day to participate in a full day training session and $250.00 annually for serving in this role, less legally required deductions.
6. Payment of the annual stipend shall be contingent upon meeting the minimum requirements of the mentoring program and submission of a formal log that documents mentoring activities.
7. The building principal or his/her designee may remove an instructional assistant from the role of mentor at any time given written notice. No stated cause for the termination of the role of mentor will be required. In a case where a mentor is removed from his or her role prior to full completion of all required activities, he or she will be compensated in a pro-rated fashion. Payment will be made only upon receipt of documentation of mentoring activities completed prior to the date of termination notice.
8. It is understood that the role of “mentor” does not constitute a position within the certified bargaining unit nor is it subject to the terms of the CBA except as provided herein. In this regard, appointment (or non-reappointment) and removal shall not be subject to the grievance procedure set forth in Article 4.
Mentoring Program. 13.1 LEA and the District are continuously striving to provide the highest possible quality education. In order for students to succeed in learning, teachers must succeed in teaching. Therefore, the parties agree to cooperate in the design and implementation of programs to improve the quality of instruction through expanded and improved professional development and peer assistance.
13.2 Mentor Teacher
13.2.1 A Mentor Teacher is a teacher who provides assistance to a Participating Teacher. The qualifications for the Mentor Teacher shall be, at a minimum, the following:
13.2.1.1 Shall be a credentialed classroom teacher with permanent status.
13.2.1.2 Shall have substantial recent experience as defined by five (5) years of full time permanent status of which at least the last three (3) years shall have been in the LVJUSD.
13.2.1.3 Shall demonstrate exemplary teaching ability, as indicated by, among other things: effective communication skills including both oral and written communications, subject matter knowledge and mastery of a range of teaching strategies necessary to meet the needs of pupils in different contexts, and the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others.
13.2.1.4 Shall demonstrate and maintain the highest standards of the teaching profession.
13.2.1.5 Shall be recommended by the current site manager.
13.2.1.6 Shall be provided with training by the District in coaching strategies and adult learning theory prior to being assigned as a mentor teacher.
Mentoring Program. 1. All entry-year teachers will participate in a mentoring program.
Mentoring Program. E.1 Supplemental stipends shall be paid to bargaining unit members serving as mentor teachers in the Ohio Resident Educator Program, and according to the following schedule:
Mentoring Program. Preamble: From time to time, Interior Savings Credit Union finds itself with a vacancy which it has not been able to fill with an internal qualified candidate. The Credit Union implements a mentoring program meant to train an unqualified internal candidate who shows potential.
Mentoring Program. Teachers may, at their sole discretion, volunteer to be mentors. Selection of mentors will be at the discretion of the Superintendent or his/her designee and shall be subject to the following conditions:
Mentoring Program. (1) The purpose of the HUD Mentoring Program is to assist all HUD staff - from entry level to Executive level - to succeed in achieving their career goals and to increase their proficiency on the job.
(2) The Mentoring Program will provide an opportunity for experienced HUD staff (Mentors) to help and guide other HUD staff (Mentees). With supervisory approval, mentors and mentees may be allowed up to one hour a week for mentoring activities. This hour must be used in a given week. Hours may not be banked for future use, nor may hours be used in advance. At the discretion of the mentor and mentee, additional sessions may be scheduled on their own time. Mentoring relationships may be terminated at anytime by either the mentor or mentee. However, the Mentoring Program Coordinator must be consulted before the relationship is terminated.
(3) A Mentoring Program Coordinator is designated in each Field office and Headquarters to oversee the planning and implementation of the Program locally. Training of mentor/mentee pairs will be provided before mentors and mentees begin to work together.
Mentoring Program. 12.5.1 The District will provide a mentoring program for new employees. The purpose of this program shall be to assist the new employee in developing and enhancing the knowledge and skills necessary for effective performance. All new employees shall be provided mentoring support for the first six (6) weeks of their employment. This mentoring may be provided by a mentor or lead in the employee’s field or position as delineated in Articles 11.4 and 11.6.
12.5.2 Each new school employee shall be assigned a mentor who agrees to meet with the new employee, demonstrate procedures and processes, and guide the new employee through the daily operation of a school or work location.
12.5.3 SEIU 925 and the District shall develop and implement the selection process, criteria and logistics for the mentoring program as delineated in Appendix H.
12.5.4 The parties agree to review the efficacy of the mentoring program in Labor/Management with any recommendation for changes or modifications.
