Layoff Recall and Job Vacancies. In layoff, recall and filling job vacancies, the Employer shall give consideration to an employee's length of continuous service with the Employer and ability to best perform the duties required in the job. In applying this provision it is the intent to provide qualified employees with opportunities for promotion and the Employer with efficient operations.

Layoff Recall and Job Vacancies. 8.1 Considerations - The City may lay off employees where there are changes in duties in the organization, a position or service is abolished, a reorganization of the operations occurs or for lack of work or shortage of funds. Any limited term employee shall be let go before any regular employee in the same job classification, and in reverse order of seniority among limited term employees. The procedures for regular employees are as follows:

  • Layoff and Recall (a) A layoff of employees shall be made on the basis of seniority, based on an integrated seniority list of all hours paid since date of last hire. It is understood and agreed that through the bumping procedure the first to be laid off are probationary employees followed by those who work casual part-time shifts. No agency or new hires will be used when there is an employee on layoff provided that the employees on layoff will meet the staffing requirements of the Home. An employee will not be laid off out of seniority order if her lack of qualification for a junior employee’s shift can be remedied by a three (3) day orientation to that shift. An employee will not be denied recall to a shift if her lack of qualification for the recall opportunity can be remedied by a three (3) day orientation to that shift.

  • LAYOFFS AND RECALLS 17.01 Both parties recognize that job security should increase in proportion to length of service.
