Filling Job Vacancies. 16.01 The Employer shall post notice of vacancies with duration of one (1) calendar month or more for a period of one (1) week. A job posting shall contain the following information: job position/classification, a summary of the duties, the required qualifications, the hours of work including days off, the wage scale, work area and commencement date.
Filling Job Vacancies. When a vacancy in a bargaining unit job occurs, the following principles shall apply in the following order:
1. All vacancies and new positions in the bargaining unit shall be posted for a minimum period of seven (7) calendar days. Postings shall include classification, shift, and rate of pay. “Posted” or “Postings” may include use of an internet or other computer-based job posting and/or screening system but must include a physical posting in the facility next to the facility’s time clock or another mutually agreeable location that includes the date written on the notice that the posting was posted.
Filling Job Vacancies. A. Vacancies will be filled by candidates in the following categories provided that needs of the business will permit the release of the requesting employees from their present assignments:
1. Mandatory Return from leaves, legal requirements.
2. Transfers at the instance of the Company to correct an imbalance in the workforce.
3. Force Adjustments.
4. Change in place of reporting or work group or in the same title, within a location. In instances where a candidate covered by this category is selected and a replacement is thereby necessary that replacement will be made from candidates from the categories below:
a. Retreats as covered by 12.02D1 and 12.02D2.
b. Recall from layoff.
c. Request from lateral movement.
d. Request for downgrade movement.
e. Request for promotional movement.
f. Non-mandatory return from leaves. Candidates available from other sources will be grouped with internal requesters when the above order has not filled the vacancy or vacancies.
B. The Company will ordinarily follow the above order in filling vacancies. The Company, however, may due to a business reason select candidates without following the above order.
1. The Company is not required to consider a request for promotion from an employee on leave of absence. However, if an employee on leave of absence is selected for promotion, all other employees who are on leave who have valid requests on file must be considered under the appropriate provisions of 12.02.
2. Nothing in this Agreement is to be construed as prohibiting the Company from giving consideration in filling job vacancies to employees who do not have requests on file under the provisions of 12.01.
3. Requesters with deficiencies that may affect their chances for being selected will be informed as to the deficiency. (Deficiencies will include, but are not limited to, failure to satisfactorily complete required tests, failure to meet requirements set forth in 12.01B7, 8 and 9.
4. When an employee is selected to fill a job vacancy, the employee will be released from his/her present assignment as soon as practicable but in any event no later than the sixth Sunday following the date the employee is notified.
C. In filling vacancies, the Company will give consideration to seniority, qualifications, needs of the business, and the reason the candidate desires the job vacancy, and, if the candidate is returning from a leave of absence or a layoff, whether he/she due to medical impairment is no longer able to perform the essent...

Filling Job Vacancies. It is understood the Company may consider candidates outside the Company and/or bargaining unit whenever filling vacancies. The Company will attempt to fill the vacancy internally from those employees submitting a job bid request. In order to be considered a candidate for selection, the applicant must successfully pass any reasonable and appropriate tests used by the Company for the position. If the applicant passes such testing, or if the Company elects not to use testing as part of the selection process, qualifications shall be determined by the total circumstances including work experience, performance (and any performance evaluations), applicable technical education and attendance. It is understood that the Company may not have access to some of the same information (for example, attendance and any performance evaluations) on outside applicants but will make reasonable attempts to obtain such information. The Company may use other forms of testing, interviews and/or other reasonable methods of determining qualifications as herein defined. The position will be filled by the most qualified candidate, from any source as determined by the Company. In the event an internal candidate is deemed the most qualified the job shall be offered to him/her. In the event multiple internal candidates are determined to be most qualified by the Company, seniority will govern.
5.2.1 The Company will endeavor to notify selected candidates of their selections within ten (10) calendar days.
Filling Job Vacancies. The senior employee applying for the position as posted who is qualified and has the most experience at the time will be given the job. If none of the applicants has the necessary qualifications and experience, the City will fill the position at its discretion. The City will consider the applications received on the basis of the appropriate section first and then the other sections before any outsiders are hired. Sections here shall be defined as being Works Operations, Technical Services, Fleet Services (formerly Service Centre) and Traffic.

If an employee is on vacation or leave of absence when a job is being posted and has notified their supervisor of their interest in a particular shift or position, then he/she shall either be contacted while on vacation or leave of absence or allowed to apply for the shift/position upon their return.

Filling Job Vacancies. 18 The university will post job openings which may occur in the bargaining unit at the 19 ILR Extension Office in New York City in accordance with the following procedure: 20
21 1. The University will post via e-mail all job vacancies which occur in the bargain- 22 ing unit including the job description and grade while concurrently advertising 23 the position externally. The University will limit consideration to internal 24 candidates for a minimum of five (5) working days before considering external 25 applicants.
26 2. Special effort will be made to contact employees who are absent during the 27 posting period to notify them of the job vacancy. Employees who are absent for 28 the duration of the posting period and who return to work within fifteen (15) 29 calendar days of the initial posting, shall have five (5) days working from their 30 date of return to apply for the position.
31 3. The job opening shall be filled by regular members of the bargaining unit by se- 33 perform the job, or will be able to perform the job after a reasonable amount of 34 training, not to exceed twenty (20) working days.
35 4. The University will provide the union with a list of all bargaining unit members, 36 their titles and pay grades annually. The union shall provide the University a list 37 of shop stewards annually.
38 5. The university agrees to provide unit members who are not offered a job for 39 which they have applied a general written explanation of why they were not 40 selected. A copy will also be provided to a unit shop xxxxxxx. 1 ARTICLE 11
Filling Job Vacancies. 14.01 Posting Job Vacancies
(a) Full Time Regular Jobs To Be Posted Except as expressly provided otherwise by this Agreement, all job vacancies for any Full Time Regular positions or personnel as defined in this Agreement shall be posted, in paper form, by the Employer on an "Employer-wide" basis for fourteen (14) consecutive calendar days to give all eligible Employees an opportunity to apply for the job(s).
