Leave for Full-Time Union or Public Duties. (a) The College shall grant, on written request, leave of absence without pay for employees: (1) to seek election in a municipal, provincial or federal election. (2) for a period to a maximum of five (5) years for employees elected to union or public office. (b) An employee who is on leave for full‐time union or public duties shall accrue seniority to a maximum of two (2) years regardless of length of leave (c) Upon return after a period of two (2) years or more the employee shall be subject to a further probationary period of six hundred (600) hours. (d) Increments as per Article 16.4 will not be awarded for leave under this article.

Leave for Full-Time Union or Public Duties. Any employee who is elected or selected to any position with the Union or any body with which the Union is affiliated, or any employee who is elected to any public body, shall be granted a leave of absence without pay for a period of up to one (1) year and such leave shall be renewed each year upon request. Such leaves of absence shall not affect an employee’s seniority.

(b) A period of up to one (1) year for employees selected as a full-time officer with the Union or any body to which the Union is affiliated. Such leave will be renewed upon request of the Union. (c) A period of up to five (5) years for employees elected to a public office. Such leave will be renewed upon request of the employee. (d) Employees on leave under this Clause shall not continue to accrue seniority while on such leave. (e) Notwithstanding (d) above, employees elected as a full-time officer of the local union shall continue to accrue seniority while on such leave.
Leave for Full-Time Union or Public Duties. (a) An employee elected to a full-time position as an officer of the Union or any body to which the Union is affiliated shall be granted leave without pay and no loss of seniority for a period of up to two (2) years, which may be extended upon approval of the Board. (b) When an employee is nominated as a candidate and wishes to contest a municipal, provincial or federal election, they shall be given leave of absence, without pay, during the election campaign. Should the employee be elected to a public office they shall be granted a long-term leave of absence without pay or benefits and without accruing seniority during the leave period.
