LEAVE OF ABSENCE: EMPLOYEE ELECTED TO UNION OFFICE. (a) The Employer shall grant an unpaid leave of absence to an employee who is appointed or elected to a position within the Union for a period of up to and including five (5) years.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE: EMPLOYEE ELECTED TO UNION OFFICE. (a) The Employer shall grant a leave of absence without pay or benefits to an employee, who has completed the probationary period and who is appointed or elected to a Union Office for a period of up to and including three (3) years.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE: EMPLOYEE ELECTED TO UNION OFFICE. (a) The Employer shall grant an unpaid leave of absence to an employee who is appointed or elected to a Union Office or to a full-time as a staff for a period of up and including five years. A request for such an approved leave must be given to the Employer by the Union, in writing at least fourteen calendar days prior to the commencement of such leave, on Union letterhead and signed by an Officer of the Union. An employee who obtains such a leave of absence shall return to his employment within thirty cal- endar days after the completion of his employment with t h e U n i o n . The Employer is not obligated to grant such leave to more than one employee at a time from any one department.

  • Long Term Leave of Absence The District may grant any employee an unpaid long-term leave of absence for up to one (1) year for study, child rearing, travel, medical, or other mutually agreed to reason(s). Upon Board approval leave may be extended an additional year. Employees granted such a leave shall be permitted to stay on the District insurance programs at their own expense (carriers permitting), shall not gain or lose seniority or other benefits, but shall not be granted advancement credit on the salary schedule for the period of the leave. Upon return from such leave, the employee shall be entitled to the same position or a position substantially equivalent to the position held prior to the leave.

  • LEAVE OF ABSENCE - UNION BUSINESS 11.08.01 Employees who have been elected or appointed to carry out business authorized by the Union on a full-time basis shall be granted a Leave of Absence for this purpose. The Union will advise the Company of the name(s) of such employee(s), the term of such leave, and the specific purpose. The Union shall repay the Company for the Company's costs incurred in Employee Benefit Plans and the employee(s) shall continue to pay their contributions directly to the Company. The Company shall provide such employees with free and reduced-rate transportation in accordance with Company regulations. Such employees shall continue to accrue seniority and service while on leave of absence.

  • Leave of Absence for Union Business (a) The Employer shall grant leaves of absence to employees to attend Union Conventions, negotiations of the Collective Agreement with the Employer and other Union business. The Union agrees that such leave will not unduly affect the proper operations or be detrimental to the proficient operations of the Employer.

Except in extenuating circumstances, the notice shall be submitted in writing at least twenty-eight (28) days in advance of the leave and shall specify the probable date of commencement and the anticipated length of leave. The following conditions shall apply:

  • Maternity/Adoption Leave An employee who is pregnant and who has three (3) months or more of continuous service with the Company shall be granted leave of absence under the terms and conditions of the Employment Standards Act except as herein otherwise provided:

  • Maternity/Parental/Adoption Leave Maternity/Parental/Adoption leave shall be granted as a right as per the Employment Standards Act.

  • Leave When Employment Terminates 31.7.1 Except as provided in sub-clause 31.7.3, when the employment of an employee is terminated for any reason, the employee or his estate shall, in lieu of earned but unused vacation leave, be paid an amount equal to the product obtained by multiplying the number of days of earned but unused vacation leave by the daily rate of pay applicable to the employee immediately prior to the termination of his employment.
