Other Observances. (a) Where established ethno-cultural or religious practices provide for ceremonial occasions, employees may request up to four days' leave without pay per calendar year. Such leave will not be unreasonably withheld. (b) Employees will provide the Employer with the dates of the four days for which leave will be requested. A minimum of two weeks' notice is required for leave under this provision.

Other Observances. Employees may attend any on-campus celebrations and/or commemorations, and/or observe moments of silence as applicable, for the following: National Day of Mourning National Indigenous Peoples Day Remembrance Day International Women’s Day Montreal Massacre Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirited People (MMIWG2s) International Workers’ Day Quebec City Mosque Shooting Memorial (January 29th) Black Lives Matter LGBTQ2S+ Pride or Remembrance National Day for Truth and Reconciliation In attending any such events, employees will notify their supervisors and exercise reasonable judgment having regard for the needs of their research and any teaching responsibilities.
Other Observances. (a) Employees are entitled to up to two days leave without pay per calendar year where established ethno-cultural or religious practices provide for ceremonial occasions. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld. (b) A minimum of two weeks' notice is required for leave under this provision. Where two weeks' notice is not possible due to the unpredictable nature of the occasion, then as much notice as possible shall be provided. (c) Employees granted leave under this provision may utilize or reschedule unused vacation or banked overtime.

Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld. Employees shall provide the Employer with the dates of the four (4) days for which leave will be requested. A minimum of two (2) weeks' notice is required for leave under this provision. Regular part-time employees will accumulate a statutory holiday bank based on four point two percent (4.2%) of their regular straight time hours in each pay period. When a paid holiday occurs, and where the bank contains sufficient hours, the employee will be paid an amount from their paid holiday bank which is equal to the employee's average regular daily hours [determined by prorating the employees' regular schedule by the full-time hours as per Article Participation in the "statutory holiday bank" will be voluntary on an agency by agency basis. Where the unionized employees choose to not participate in the "statutory holiday bank" the part-time employees shall receive four point two percent (4.2%) of straight-time pay instead of a day off with pay. The unionized employees will elect whether or not the agency will participate in the "statutory holiday bank" by voting on the option no later than October Once the election is made it is irreversible.

  • Religious Observances Members shall be entitled to make reasonable rearrangements of their duties upon due notice to permit them to observe the religious obligations and practices of their faiths.

  • Religious Observance 47.1 The Council shall make every reasonable effort to accommodate an employee who requests time off to fulfill his religious obligations. 47.2 Employees may, in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement, request annual leave, compensatory leave, leave without pay for other reasons or a shift exchange (in the case of a shift worker) in order to fulfill their religious obligations. 47.3 Notwithstanding clause 47.2, at the request of the employee and at the discretion of the Council, time off with pay may be granted to the employee in order to fulfill his religious obligations. The number of hours with pay so granted must be made up hour for hour within a period of six (6) months, at times agreed to by the Council. Hours worked as a result of time off granted under this clause shall not be compensated nor should they result in any additional payments by the Council. 47.4 An employee who intends to request leave or time off under this Article must give notice to the Council as far in advance as possible but not later than four (4) weeks before the requested period of absence.
