Part-Time Appointments. (a) Part-time appointments shall be made with the approval of the relevant Department/Program. In recommending a candidate for a part-time faculty position the Department/Program shall specify the area(s) of specialization and the course level the individual is qualified to teach. A copy of this recommendation will be sent to the candidate.
(b) The qualifications of part-time faculty being recommended by a Department/Program for employment in any of the degree programs of the university shall be reviewed by the Xxxx of the appropriate Faculty. The Xxxx shall advise the Department/Program within ten (10) days of receipt of the Department/Program’s recommendation of their decision on the appointment. If the Department/Program and Xxxx agree on the appointment of an individual, their decision is final. If the Xxxx does not agree with the Department/Program’s recommendation on the appointment then the matter shall be referred to the Appointments Committee.
(c) Qualifications, including area(s) of specialization and the course level a part- time faculty member is qualified to teach, shall be reviewed, after initial appointment, in accordance with the relevant collective agreement (CUPE 3912).
(d) Notwithstanding 10.1.21(b) and 10.1.21(c), faculty who hold probationary or tenured appointments at Canadian Universities that are members of Universities Canada shall be deemed to be qualified to hold a part-time appointment at Saint Mary’s upon presentation of evidence of their probationary or tenured status at their home university and upon approval of the relevant Department/Program as specified in 10.1.21
(a) The University reserves the right to verify the candidate’s credentials.
Part-Time Appointments. A part-time appointment means a Lab Instructor appointed to a position whose normal hours of work are less than seventy-five percent (75%) of those of a full-time Lab Instructor pursuant to Article 29.
Part-Time Appointments. A part-time appointment means a Nursing Practice Educator appointed to a position whose normal hours of work are less than two-thirds (66%) of those of a full-time Nursing Practice Educator pursuant to Article 30.3.1.
Part-Time Appointments. 1. a. A teacher with a continuing full-time appointment to the teaching staff of the district may without prejudice to that appointment request a part-time assignment, specifying the fraction of time requested, and the length of time for which the part-time assignment is requested. If a request is refused, the teacher shall be advised of the reason in writing.
Part-Time Appointments. An appointment for less than a full time annual instructional load as defined in the workload section of this Contract shall be defined as a part-time appointment. Categories of part-time academic employee shall be established as follows:
Part-Time Appointments. 1. A teacher with a continuing full-time appointment to the teaching staff of the District may, without prejudice to that appointment, request a part-time assignment, specifying the fraction of time requested, and the length of time for which the part-time assignment is requested.
a. The Board shall consider each request and respond in writing to the teacher.
2. When the request is granted by the Board, the teacher shall be entitled to return to a similar, full-time, assignment at the expiration of the period of time for which the Board has made the part-time assignment.
Part-Time Appointments. The assigned obligation of a part-time Academic Support Professional shall be proportionate to her/his appointment and fall within the timeframe of the appointment.
Part-Time Appointments. (a) A part-time appointment is one that does not exceed 75% of full-time employment. Normally, part-time appointments shall not be made at less than one-third of a full- time appointment.
(b) Individuals currently holding a tenured or permanent status full-time position may, with the agreement of the Xxxx or Chief Librarian, as the case may be, and with the approval of the President, change to a tenured or permanent status part-time position, whichever is appropriate.
(c) Part-time Faculty Members or Librarians may hold tenure or permanent status, as the case may be, only in the case of full-time tenured or permanent status members who change to a part-time appointment in accordance with section (b).
Part-Time Appointments. 1. Part-time teachers shall be paid in proportion to the time appointed as compared to a full-time appointment.
2. A teacher with a full-time continuing appointment to the teaching staff of the District may without prejudice to that appointment request a part-time assignment, specifying the fraction of time requested, and the length of time for which the part-time assignment is requested.
3. When the request under Article C.26.2 is granted by the Board, the teacher shall be on leave of absence status in respect of the balance of the full-time appointment, and shall be entitled to return to a similar full-time assignment at the expiration of the period of time for which the Board has made the part-time assignment. The teacher may return to a full-time assignment at an earlier date or may extend the period of part-time teaching, by agreement with the Board, if reasonable notice of the request for earlier or later return has been given.
