STANDBY PAY Definition of Standby” An employee shall be designated as being “on stand- by” if, by prearrangement with the employee’s supervisor, the employee has been requested to be available during a specific period, other than during scheduled working hours, to respond to telephone enquiries at an agreed location or to respond to messages received on a portable paging or sage-answering device.
