Personal Illness/Illness in Immediate Family. Teachers shall accrue up to fifteen (15) days of sick leave during the school year without loss of pay for personal illness and/or illness in the teacher's immediate family. Sick leave accrual for probationary teachers shall be based upon 1-1/2 days per month of service to a maximum of fifteen (15) days per year. Unused sick leave during probationary period shall accrue toward maximum sick leave accrual as specified by this Agreement. Upon tenure, teacher shall receive the annual sick leave days per year as specified by this Agreement, at the beginning of the duty year. Eligible employees under this Agreement shall be allowed leave when there is a serious illness or injury in the immediate family requiring the care or attendance of the employee. The immediate family shall include the spouse, children, parents, brothers and sisters of the teacher, plus his or her father-in-law, mother-in-law, legal guardian and grandparents, whether living in the household of the teacher or not, and any other relative of the teacher or spouse who is living in the household of the teacher. Reports of absence for family illness shall be accompanied by a certification of illness from the consulting doctor if such illness exceeds three days. Teachers shall be required to sign a statement of illness after each sick leave absence. If a teacher is absent for more than five (5) consecutive days or has an accumulation of five (5) separate illness periods, he or she may then be required to submit a doctor's statement for each illness thereafter. Illness or disabilities related to pregnancy shall be covered by sick leave.

  • Illness in Immediate Family 1. Up to three (3) days of sick leave may be used by a teacher for each serious illness of a member of that teacher's immediate family or birth of a child of a teacher. Serious illness shall mean an illness where death is probable and may occur, surgery is performed requiring hospitalization, or illness requiring treatment by a physician. Two (2) additional days of sick leave may be used where round trip travel is 600 miles or more.

  • Death in Immediate Family A regularly scheduled employee may be granted up to five days of leave of absence with pay by the Agency/Department Head because of death in the immediate family. An employee shall be allowed to take such leave within a four week period. For purposes of this subsection, "immediate family" means mother, stepmother, father, stepfather, husband, wife, domestic partner (upon submission of an affidavit as defined in the appendices), son, stepson, daughter, stepdaughter, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, xxxxxx parent, xxxxxx child, mother-in-law, and father-in-law, or any other person sharing the relationship of in loco parentis; and, when living in the household of the employee, a brother-in-law, sister-in-law. Entitlement to leave of absence under this subsection shall be only for all hours the employee would have been scheduled to work for those days granted, and shall be in addition to any other entitlement for sick leave, emergency leave, or any other leave.

  • Illness in the Immediate Family ‌ An employee may use up to one-half of his or her annual sick leave allocation in any calendar year in the event of illness or a spouse, child, parent, or domestic partner. At the City's request the employee will provide satisfactory evidence of the facts justifying such absence.

  • Illness in Family A leave of absence without pay up to one (1) year shall be granted for the purpose of caring for a sick member of the secretary's immediate family. Additional leave may be granted at the discretion of the Board.

  • Personal Illness Employees may use accumulated sick leave for hours off due to personal illness. The employee may be required to furnish a medical certificate from a qualified physician as evidence of illness or physical disability in order to qualify for paid sick leave as per District practice. Accumulated sick leave may also be granted for such time as is actually necessary for office visits to a doctor, dentist, optometrist, etc.

  • Immediate Family Immediate family includes husband, wife, child, stepchild, brother, brother-in-law, stepbrother, sister, sister-in-law, stepsister, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild, parent, stepparent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, or any person serving as a parent, or who has served as a parent, or any other close person living in the same household as the employee.

  • Immediate family or household 25.2.1 The entitlement to use personal leave for the purposes of carer’s or bereavement leave is subject to the person in respect of whom the leave is taken being either:

  • Death in the Immediate Family The teacher may take a maximum of five (5) sick days per death at the time of the death. Immediate family shall be interpreted as mother, father, husband, wife, grandparents, grandchild, child, sister, and brother of teacher and/or his/her spouse. One (1) of these days must be the funeral day.

  • Personal Illness or Disability The bargaining unit member may use all or any portion of his leave to recover from his/her own illness or disability.

  • Illness in the Family Where no one at home other than the employee can provide for the needs during illness of an immediate member of her family, an employee shall be entitled after notifying her supervisor, to use a maximum of five (5) accumulated sick leave days per illness to care for the member of the family who is ill.
