Personal Leave Monitoring. Personal leave is unlike annual leave or long service leave in that personal leave is conditional upon an employee being ill or injured to the point of being unfit for duty. • It is insurance to protect the employee and his/her family against hardship should he or she be unable to continue in his or her normal occupation. • This procedure is designed to curtail personal leave abuse by employees who are absent from work and who are not genuinely unfit for duty. • At the end of each 3 monthly period or where an employee has had 3 or more days of absence through illness without being required to produce a medical certificate, each employee’s Team Leader reviews the personal leave records and provides his or her manager with a list of the employees who have been absent for 3 days or more in the period. • The manager or his delegate will then have the following matters examined:

  • Personal Leaves 8.11.4.1 As approved by the Board, personal leaves without pay may be granted in cases of exceptional need for up to six (6) months.
