Procedure for Adjustment of Grievances. Grievances shall be presented and adjusted in accordance with the following procedures:
Procedure for Adjustment of Grievances. Subd. 1 Step I
a. Whenever any aggrieved teacher has a grievance, the teacher shall meet on an informal basis with the principal or immediate supervisor in an attempt to resolve the matter. This meeting must take place within 10 days of the time the teacher knew or should have known about the issue or incident giving rise to the grievance.
b. If the grievance is not resolved in the informal meeting, the Association, as the exclusive representative of the teacher, shall thereafter process the grievance by submitting it in writing to the Superintendent of Schools (See Step II) within ten (10) days following the Step I meeting.
Procedure for Adjustment of Grievances. Informal Conference - Within ten (10) days of when the grievant knew or should have known of the occurrence of the event which first gave rise to the grievance, a complaint shall first be discussed with the object of resolving the matter informally. In the event the matter is resolved informally and an Association representative was not present at the adjustment of the complaint, the supervisor shall inform the DESPA President or DESPA Designee of the adjustment. Step One:
Procedure for Adjustment of Grievances. 1. Grievances and problems shall be presented and adjusted in accordance with the following procedure: the employee having a grievance, complaint or problem shall first discuss the matter with the Principal, either directly or accompanied by another employee in the school, or by the Federation Building Representative, with the objective of resolving the matter informally.
2. Step 1
(a) In the event the matter is not resolved informally, the grievance stated in writing may, except as hereinafter otherwise provided, be lodged with or submitted to the Principal of the school in which the grievance arises within twenty (20) school days following the discussion with the Principal. The written grievance shall state whether there was an oral discussion of the matter with the Principal.
(b) The grievance may be lodged and thereafter discussed with the Principal:
(1) By an employee accompanied by a Federation representative, if the employee so requests;
(2) Through a Federation representative, if the employee so requests;
(3) By a Federation representative in the name of the Federation;
(4) By an employee in person on his/her own behalf, provided, however, that the Federation representative is given an opportunity to be present at such discussion; or
(5) By an employee accompanied by any other employee in the same school provided, however, that the Federation representative is given an opportunity to be present at such discussion.
(c) Whenever a decision on a grievance which has been lodged and is sought to be adjusted by an employee on his/her own behalf or while accompanied by any employee in the school, other than the Federation representative, would involve the application or interpretation of any provision of this Agreement or of any policy or could be deemed a precedent as to the working conditions, or welfare of employees in the bargaining unit, the Principal shall give to the appropriate Federation representative under Step 1a the opportunity to state the views of the Federation as to the adjustment sought by the employee and that proposed by the Principal.
(d) Within five (5) school days after receiving the grievance, the Principal shall communicate his/her decision in writing to the employee who lodged the grievance and to the Federation representative.
Procedure for Adjustment of Grievances. Grievances shall be presented and adjusted in accordance with conditions and procedures defined in this GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE. Both parties to this GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE agree that an orderly and expeditious resolution of grievances can be achieved through adherence to the following procedures for processing grievances: LEVEL ONE - Informal Conference A grievance shall first be discussed with the building principal of the aggrieved party to which the grievance refers within ten (10) days of the occurrence with the objective of resolving the matter informally with the aggrieved party on his/her own behalf. LEVEL TWO - Written Submission to Principal In the event the grievance is not resolved informally, it shall be submitted in writing on a form prepared and provided by UDASD, to the principal of the grievant within five (5) days following the informal conference. The written grievance shall be signed by the aggrieved party.
1. The grievance shall be submitted and thereafter discussed with the principal of the aggrieved party.
2. The building principal of the aggrieved party shall submit a decision in writing, within ten (10) days after the discussion referred to in Item "1" above to the aggrieved party. A copy of this decision should be provided to the party in interest.
3. The grievance shall be considered resolved if the aggrieved party so advises his/her principal in writing or does nothing within five (5) days of the receipt of the decision referred to in Item "2" above. This advisement should bear the signature of the aggrieved party.
4. If the grievance is resolved at this level, the party in interest should be so advised.
5. If the grievance is not satisfactorily resolved in Level Two, the aggrieved party may refer the decision of the Principal to the Superintendent within five (5) days after receipt of the decision of the principal. LEVEL THREE - Superintendent
1. Within five (5) days after receiving the recommendation of the Principal, the District Superintendent shall meet with the aggrieved party on the grievance, review the recommendations of the Principal, and attempt to arrive at a satisfactory adjustment of the grievance.
2. Within five (5) days after holding the conference, the District Superintendent shall communicate his/her decision, in writing, together with supporting justifications to the aggrieved party. LEVEL FOUR - Board of Directors

Step 1: Informal Conference The grievant who feels that he/she/they have a grievance shall first take the matter up verbally in conference with the principal of the school within five (5) working days after they became aware of the act or condition which they claim is the basis of their grievance. The Principal shall meet with and attempt to resolve the matter with him/her/them.
Step 2: Written Procedure In the event the matter is not resolved informally, the grievance stated in writing on the form provided for such purpose shall be submitted to the principal or his/her designee within ten (10) days following the conference between the parties.
a. Within six (6) working days of receipt of the written grievance, the principal shall arrange a conference to satisfactorily resolve the grievance. (The conference shall take place at the earliest possible date.)
b. The grievance may be lodged and thereafter discussed in conference with the principal or his/her designee.
1. By a teacher in person on his/her own behalf.
2. By a teacher accompanied by the appropriate Union representative.
3. By the Union representative in the name of the Union, if it does not refer to an individual teacher.
c. Within six (6) working days after such conference in Step 2 above, the principal shall answer such grievance in writing.
