Promotional Transfer. The definition of a promotional transfer is reassignment from a position in one classification to a position in a higher classification. An employee who files for the vacancy during the posting period and meets the minimum qualifications shall be considered for the position. During the interview and selection process, the following qualifications will be considered: educational background, test scores, written evaluations, attendance, experience and seniority.

Promotional Transfer. The definition of an upward transfer is reassignment from a position in one classification to a position in another classification. An employee who files for the vacancy during the posting period and meets the minimum qualifications shall be considered for the position in accordance with District policy. In the event that more than one qualified employee is being considered for the position, and all qualifications are relatively equal, seniority will become the determining factor. Probationary period must be served in the new position.
Promotional Transfer. 13.2.1 When a new position is created or an existing position becomes vacant which is considered promotional, the position will first be opened to current permanent unit members provided they have the skill, competency, and ability to perform the job. A unit member may apply for transfer to that position by filing a written notice with the Human Resources Office.
