Promotions and Lateral Transfers Within Bargaining Unit Sample Clauses

Promotions and Lateral Transfers Within Bargaining Unit. When an employee is permanently promoted to a classification in the bargaining unit with a higher wage scale, the employee will be placed on the step of the wage scale which is closest to a three percent (3%) increase over the normal hourly rate the employee was earning before the transfer. (At the Employer’s discretion, it may credit other Hospital experience for placement at a higher step.) When making a lateral transfer, the employee will be placed on the step of the wage scale which is closest to, but no lower than, the normal hourly rate the employee was earning before the transfer. Lateral transfers are defined as transfers to a position where the current base rate is less than one percent (1%) lower than the base rate of the new scale. In all cases of a job transfer, the employee’s “time in position” will restart. If an employee’s “time in position” was greater than seven (7) months, the employee will roll to the next highest step.
