Recognition & Rights of Stewards. (a) The Company recognizes the Union's right to select Stewards to represent employees. The Company and the Union will agree on the number of Stewards, taking into account both operational and geographical considerations. (b) The Union agrees to provide the Company with a list of the employees designated as Stewards for each jurisdictional area. (c) A Xxxxxxx or alternate shall obtain the permission of the immediate supervisor before leaving work to perform duties as a Xxxxxxx. Leave for this purpose shall be with pay. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. On resuming normal duties, the Xxxxxxx shall notify the supervisor. (d) The duties of Stewards shall include: (i) investigation of complaints; (ii) resolving grievances and assisting any employee whom the Xxxxxxx represents in presenting a grievance in accordance with the grievance procedure; (iii) distribution of Union information; (iv) attending meetings at the request of the Company; (v) assist employees with EFAP referrals and job evaluations.

The Union agrees to provide the Employer with a list of employees designated as stewards. A xxxxxxx shall obtain permission of their supervisor or manager before leaving their work to perform the xxxxxxx duties as described below. Leave for this purpose shall be without loss of pay. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. On resuming their normal duties, the xxxxxxx shall notify their supervisor or manager. The duties of the xxxxxxx shall include: (a) investigation of complaints of an urgent nature; (b) investigation of grievances and assisting any employee whom the xxxxxxx represents in presenting a grievance in accordance with the grievance procedure; (c) supervision of ballot boxes and other related functions during ratification votes including one xxxxxxx shall have one day off to collect ratification ballots; (d) attending meetings at the request of the Employer; (e) meeting with a new employee as provided in Article 5 - Employer & Union Shall Acquaint New Employees; (f) with the permission of their supervisor or manager, a xxxxxxx shall have the opportunity to address staff/team meetings for the purpose of informing members on matters of importance to them. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld.
Recognition & Rights of Stewards. (a) The Employer shall recognize: (1) For each location covered by the Union’s certification, including Administration, one xxxxxxx and one alternate xxxxxxx selected by the Union. Alternates shall function only in the absence of the xxxxxxx. (2) Bargaining unit Chairperson – one only. (3) Alternate bargaining unit Chairperson – one only, it being understood that such alternate shall function only in the absence of the bargaining unit Chairperson. (b) Each party to this Collective Agreement shall keep the other party informed of its representatives. (c) Stewards may, within reason, investigate and process grievances during regular working hours without loss of pay. Stewards will obtain permission from the Employer's designated representative before leaving their immediate work area. Such permission will not be unreasonably withheld. On resuming her normal duties, the xxxxxxx shall notify her supervisor. It will not be the intention of the Union to conduct xxxxxxx meetings during normal working hours.
