Request for Dues Checkoff. Pursuant to PELRA, the exclusive representative shall be allowed dues checkoff for its members. Upon receipt of a properly executed authorization card of the employee involved, the School District will deduct from the employee’s paycheck the dues that the employee has agreed to pay to the exclusive representative in six (6) equal installments, beginning with the first pay period in September.

Upon receipt by the payroll supervisor of a properly executed authorization card of the employee involved, the School District will deduct from the employee’s paycheck the dues that the employee has agreed to pay to the exclusive representative in six (6) equal installments, beginning with the first pay period in September. The exclusive representative hereby warrants and covenants that it will defend, indemnify, and save the School District harmless from any and all actions, suits, claims, damages, judgments, and executions or other forms of liability, liquidated or unliquidated, that any person may have or claim to have, now or in the future, arising out of or by reason of the dues deduction specified by the exclusive representative as provided in this Agreement.

Employees shall have the right to request and be allowed dues checkoff for the Union, provided, that dues checkoff and the proceeds thereof shall not be allowed the Union if it has lost its right to dues checkoff pursuant to 179A.06 Subd. 6 of the PELRA. Upon receipt of a properly executed dues deduction card by the employee involved, the School Board will deduct from the employee’s paycheck the dues that the employee has agreed to pay to the Union during the period provided in said authorization. Deductions shall be made monthly and sent to the Union along with a list of names of all employees from whom deductions were made.

Employees shall have the right to request and be allowed dues checkoff for the employee’s organization of their selection, provided that dues checkoff and proceeds thereof shall not be allowed any employee organization that has lost its right to dues checkoff pursuant to 179A.06 of the PELRA. Upon receipt of a properly executed authorization card of the employee involved, the school district will deduct from the employee’s bi-monthly paycheck the dues that the employee has agreed to pay to the employee organization during the period provided in said authorization. Deductions may be terminated by the employee by giving thirty days’ notice to the school district business office to stop deductions. Deductions shall be made from each semi-monthly paycheck issued to the employee and transmitted to the designated organizations together with a list of names of the employees from who deductions were made.

Teachers shall have the right to dues checkoff for the teacher organization of their selection provided an authorization card is received by the District and provided that dues checkoff and the proceeds thereof shall not be allowed any teacher organization that has lost its right to dues checkoff pursuant to the PELRA . Such authorization shall continue in effect for the exclusive representative from year to year unless revoked in writing to “Human Resources” by the teacher or the process is inconsistent with laws, rules, or regulations of the state. The Exclusive Representative will advise “Human Resources” of any changes in dues checkoff rates by September 1 of each year. The District will deduct from the teacher’s paycheck the dues that the teacher has agreed to pay to the teacher organization. Deductions shall be made in twenty-four (24) equal installments beginning in October and transmitted to the designated organizations together with a list of names of teachers from whose pay deductions were made. The exclusive representative hereby warrants and covenants that it will defend, indemnify, and save the School District harmless from any and all actions, suits, claims, damages, judgments, and executions or other forms of liability, liquidated or unliquidated, that any person may have or claim to have, now or in the future, arising out of or by reason of the dues deduction specified by the exclusive representative as provided in this Agreement.

Any teacher who is a member of the Exclusive Representative or who has applied for membership may sign and deliver to the School District an assignment authorizing the deduction from salary of membership dues for the Exclusive Representative, including Education Minnesota and the National Education Association. Such authorization shall continue in effect from year to year unless revoked in writing between June 1 and September 1 of any year. Pursuant to such authorization, the School District shall deduct such dues in equal installments from each regular salary check of the teacher for the duration of the teacher’s individual teaching contract year beginning in September and ending in June or August of each year depending on whether the teacher is being paid over 10 or 12 months. Deductions for teachers employed after the commencement of the school year shall be appropriately pro-rated to complete payments by the end of the annual teacher’s individual teaching contract.

Upon receipt by the District of a properly executed authorization card or data provided by Local No. 320 indicating which members have properly executed an authorization card, the District agrees to deduct during each payroll period an amount sufficient to provide the payment of dues established by Local No. 320 from the wages of all employees authorizing such deductions. Deductions shall be made and may be terminated in accordance with the provisions outlined on the dues authorization. Local No. 320 will indemnify, defend, and hold the Board of Education harmless against any claims made and against any suits instituted against the Board of Education, its officers or employees, by reason of payroll deductions for dues.
