Professional Organization Leave. Leave of absence without pay shall be granted to a SSP employee, for the term of the SSP employee's office but not to exceed two years, for the purpose of serving as a state or national officer in a recognized professional educational organization. Such leave may be extended by the Board for subsequent one-year periods. A SSP employee returning to the District after such leave will not qualify for a salary increment; however, professional growth credit may be accrued if previously arranged in the professional growth plan.

Office in State or National Professional Organizations Upon request of the MTA, a member of the certified staff elected to a state or national office of a bona fide professional organization at either state or national level will be granted a leave of absence not to exceed two (2) years; bona fide professional organization to be determined by MTA President or Superintendent.
Professional Organization Leave. Subd. 1. Association Leave: 4 days will be granted to the Association's total membership for involvement in professional activities. Requests for these days will be made to the Superintendent no later than 1 week in advance by the President of the Association.
Professional Organization Leave. A leave of absence, not to extend longer than a period of three (3) school years, or the length of the term of office, whichever is less, may be granted to a teacher with contractual continued service status for the purpose of serving as an elected officer of the Illinois Education Association or the National Education Association. The leave may be extended once, if the teacher is elected consecutively. The leave shall be without salary, but the recipient may elect to continue membership in the District group insurance programs at his/her own expense. Upon request for reinstatement by the teacher by March 1 of the last year of the leave, the teacher shall be reinstated at the same relative position in the salary structure which he/she held at the time the leave became effective, subject to any interim general increases or decreases of the salary structure.
Professional Organization Leave. An employee who is a state-level officer of an organization of professional employees in the employee's teaching field (e.g., speech pathology) shall be released for statewide meetings without loss of pay. The employee shall be responsible for one-half of the cost of a substitute, if one is used.

The Exclusive Representative will be granted annually a total of twenty-eight (28) days, non- accumulative, to be used by organization members for attendance at conferences, meeting and conventions and/or for processing grievances, negotiation, mediation sessions and/or arbitration hearings. An additional ten (10) days annually, nonaccumulative, shall be available for use by the Exclusive Representative by paying the reserve teacher cost. These days are to be distributed by the President of the organization. Half-days are acceptable. Advance notice of the time desired will be submitted to the Human Resources Department. Up to three (3) fully paid days and up to three (3) days wherein the union pays the reserve teacher costs, not used in the previous year, may accumulate for use in the subsequent year by the organization members as referred to above in this section.

Employees elected to a Provincial or National Organization of relevance to the work being done by the Employer, in the opinion of the Senior Director, Human Resources and Organizational Development, may, at the discretion of the appropriate manager be granted up to ten (10) days without loss of the employee’s regular straight time earnings per calendar year to attend meetings. This shall include election to a Professional Regulatory College.
