Requesting Leave Without Pay. Consistent with applicable regulations and this Agreement, an employee who desires leave, but who does not have an adequate leave balance in the appropriate leave category, may request Leave Without Pay. To request Leave Without Pay, an employee must submit a request in WebTA to his/her immediate supervisor. The reason for the request must be included in the WebTA request. Leave without pay requested in lieu of sick leave is subject to the medical certificate requirements in Article 26, Section 3. Leave Without Pay will generally be granted only in extraordinary circumstances, and not merely for the personal convenience of the employee. The Office will consider requests for leave without pay fairly and equitably. If a request for leave without pay is denied, the leave approving official will provide the reason for the denial in writing to the employee, if requested.
Requesting Leave Without Pay. Unless required by applicable law, or as otherwise provided for in this Agreement, leaves of absence without pay may be granted at the discretion of the responsible Vice President/designee or the President/designee, in the situation where the employee is not within a Vice Presidential unit.

  • Special Leave Without Pay Section 1. Employees may participate in a Special Leave Without Pay Program as established by the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners. The Special Leave Without Pay Program period is from date of County Board Approval through December 31, 2021.

  • Leave Without Pay An employee shall not be entitled to payment for a public holiday falling during a period of leave without pay (including sick leave and military leave without pay) unless the employee has worked during the fortnight ending on the day on which the holiday is observed.

Upon written application by the employee and with the approval of the Employer, an employee may be granted education leave without pay for varying periods of up to one (1) year, which can be renewed by mutual agreement, to attend a recognized institution for studies in some field of education in which preparation is needed to fill the employee’s present role more adequately or to undertake studies in some field in order to provide a service which the Employer requires or is planning to provide.

  • Authorized Leave Without Pay A. Agency/Departmental Leave‌ A regular, limited-term or probationary employee may request an agency/departmental leave without pay for a period of time not to exceed fifteen (15) calendar days. The granting of such Leave shall be at the discretion of the agency/department, except in cases where Official Leave has been authorized pursuant to B.4., B.5. and Sections 10, 11.A. and 14, below. The agency/department head may require that all accumulated compensatory leave time be used prior to granting of agency/departmental leave. The use of earned vacation or annual leave prior to the obtaining of agency/departmental leave shall be at the option of the employee.

  • Sick Leave Without Pay Sick leave without pay shall be granted to an employee who does not qualify for sick leave with pay, or who is unable to return to work at the termination of the period for which sick leave with pay is granted.
