Requirements for Eligibility. A teacher must:
a. Have completed ten (10) or more years of service with the District and be at Step 13 of any column on the District’s Salary Schedule on or before the effective date of termination of his/her employment.
b. Be eligible for early or regular retirement under the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System (“MPSERS”) on the effective date of termination of his/her employment.
c. Terminate his/her employment at the end of a semester (or between school years). Exceptions can be made by mutual consent of the Superintendent and the Association.
d. Have no pending tenure charges at the time of the teacher’s termination of employment which have been voted upon to proceed by the Board and if appealed by the teacher and a hearing is held are ultimately sustained.
e. Sign a Release and Waiver of Claims at least fourteen (14) calendar days prior to the effective date of his/her resignation and fail to exercise his/her right to revoke the Agreement during the seven (7) day period after executing the Agreement.
Requirements for Eligibility. 1. The teacher must have at least 10 years of full-time service as a certified employee in the School District.
2. The teacher must submit an irrevocable letter of retirement to the Superintendent by April 1, prior to the school year in which benefits will begin under this program. Any individual who submits their irrevocable letter of retirement by this date will receive the applicable retirement incentives. At the submission of the letter of retirement, the teacher shall submit a TRS statement of benefits or documentation confirming the teacher’s total years of service and creditable earnings.
3. The employee must be at least 54 ½ years old and be eligible to receive a TRS retirement benefit at the time of the effective date listed in the irrevocable letter of retirement.
4. Any employee already receiving the 6% benefit, will not be eligible for additional TRS retirement incentives, should those incentives create a cost for the District.
5. The Board will not be obligated to pay a penalty imposed by TRS due to the teacher’s salary exceeding the TRS cap if the teacher retires any time after submitting his/her letter of retirement. For example, a teacher who received a salary increase greater than 6% in the three years prior to the year the retirement benefits provided under this Section would begin would not be eligible for the retirement benefits.
6. The teacher shall not have received a retirement benefit pursuant to a prior collective bargaining agreement.
Requirements for Eligibility. All full-time police officers completing their probationary period are eligible to apply for educational assistance. The City may grant time for accredited police related courses on duty, with the approval of the Police Chief/Commissioner and the Human Resources Director, in the event that it is not possible to schedule Police Science courses on off-duty time. In instances such as these, the time required to attend the courses will not be subtracted from the police officer’s vacation. In order to be considered for educational assistance, an officer must obtain approval through the chain of command to the Police Chief/Commissioner and the Human Resources Director, prior to enrollment, as follows: A request for educational assistance must be submitted through the officer’s immediate supervisor to the Police Commissioner. The officer should submit the request no later than three (3) weeks prior to the start date of classes, for approval, keeping in mind any deadline for pre-registration. The Police Chief/Commissioner will review and, if appropriate, approve the request and submit it to the Human Resources Director for review and approval.
Requirements for Eligibility a. In order to be eligible for sabbatical leave, a professional employee must have completed ten (10) years of satisfactory service as a professional employee in the Commonwealth.
b. Following one (1) sabbatical leave of absence, the employee shall be allowed another sabbatical leave after each seven

In order to be eligible for this benefit, a certified staff member must submit a letter of irrevocable retirement no later than March 1, 2023 with an effective retirement date of June 30, 2027.
c. The certified staff member must be at least 55 years old and be eligible to receive a TRS retirement benefit without any additional expense by the Board at the time of the effective date listed in the irrevocable letter of retirement.
d. The certified staff member would not cause the Board to pay a penalty imposed by TRS due to the certified staff member’s salary exceeding the TRS cap if the employee would retire any time after submitting their letter of retirement. For example, a certified staff member who received a salary increase greater than 6% in one or more of the three years prior to the year the retirement benefits provided under this Paragraph B would begin would not be eligible for the retirement benefits under Paragraph B, C, and D.
e. The certified staff member shall not have received a retirement benefit pursuant to a prior collective bargaining agreement.

There shall at all times be a Trustee with respect to the Debentures issued hereunder which shall at all times be a corporation organized and doing business under the laws of the United States of America or any State or Territory thereof or of the District of Columbia, or a corporation or other person permitted to act as trustee by the Commission, authorized under such laws to exercise corporate trust powers, having a combined capital and surplus of at least $50,000,000.00, and subject to supervision or examination by Federal, State, Territorial, or District of Columbia authority. If such corporation publishes reports of condition at least annually, pursuant to law or to the requirements of the aforesaid supervising or examining authority, then for the purposes of this Section, the combined capital and surplus of such corporation shall be deemed to be its combined capital and surplus as set forth in its most recent report of condition so published. The Company may not, nor may any person directly or indirectly controlling, controlled by, or under common control with the Company, serve as Trustee. In case at any time the Trustee shall cease to be eligible in accordance with the provisions of this Section, the Trustee shall resign immediately in the manner and with the effect specified in Section 7.10.

4. The Board is not required by statute for any financial AERO obligations resulting from the teacher’s retirement imposed by TRS. For example, a teacher who will be 55 years old with 20 years of creditable service on the date of the teacher’s indicated date of retirement and has invoked his/her AERO, will not be eligible for the retirement benefits. However, a teacher who is 55 years old with 35 years of creditable service on the date of the teacher’s indicated date of retirement will be eligible for the retirement benefits.
