Sabbatical Leave of Absence. A. All permanently certified and full-time professional personnel who have served five (5) consecutive years in the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake School System directly prior to the application for sabbatical leave may, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools and approval of the Board of Education, be granted a sabbatical leave for study, or other purposes, benefiting the school system and contributing to the professional growth of the recipient in the capacity in which he/she is employed.
B. A sabbatical may be granted for a full year or a half year. Compensation will be granted at the rate of half-pay for a full-year leave or quarter-pay for a half-year. Payment to recipients will be pro-rated and will follow the regular payroll schedule during the leave of absence. Payments will be based upon the salary level the person would have been on during the leave for a regular professional assignment. When, as a result of the leave, any other additional compensation is received during the leave and the combination of such compensation and the sabbatical pay exceeds the regular professional salary the recipient would have received under normal employment that year, the sabbatical pay will be adjusted to that amount which represents the total of the regular professional salary for that year. Hours of college credit earned while on sabbatical leave will be credited for pay purposes in the same manner as college credit in the pay schedule.
C. Application for sabbatical leave should be submitted to the Superintendent’s office not later than March 1st preceding the year of the leave. The standard application form should be used and complete explanation provided on the application form concerning the following questions:
1. Purpose of request,
2. Activities anticipated,
3. Professional benefits to applicant,
4. Educational benefits to the school district,
5. Anticipated compensation beyond the sabbatical pay allowance. An interview may be requested to provide further information concerning the request.
D. Grants may be restricted in number per school (elementary) or curriculum area (secondary) as necessary in the judgment of the Superintendent.

Any professional who is granted a sabbatical leave under this section shall be required to sign, prior to beginning the sabbatical leave, an agreement with the school district indicating the professional’s intention to return to the District for two complete school years of employment following the termination o...
Sabbatical Leave of Absence. After fifteen (15) years of service with the School Association, it may be beneficial for both the School Association and the teacher, if the teacher is provided with a one-year sabbatical. A teacher may request such a sabbatical (which request will not be unreasonably denied by the School Association) subject to the following conditions:
a. the teacher engages in an approved program of professional development or study;
b. the School Association guarantees employment in the subsequent year in an equivalent position, and the teacher agrees to teach for the School Association for at least two years following the sabbatical year;
c. the teacher receives twenty percent (20%) of regular salary;
d. The School Association pays the regular benefits for that year.
Sabbatical Leave of Absence. Subd. 1 The school district may grant a maximum one (1) year leave of absence to an employee after the fifth year of continuous employment with the school district. Final decision in granting such leave of absence will rest solely with the school district.

Sabbatical Leave of Absence. 1. Certificated employees shall be granted a sabbatical leave of absence without pay for one (1) year duration after full-time employment with the District for a minimum of five (5) continuous years. The Superintendent shall notify the employee within thirty (30) days of request if the request has been approved or denied on the basis of the decision. A one (1) year extension may be applied for in writing no later than March 15. A second year of sabbatical leave is only allowed if the second year immediately follows the original sabbatical leave of absence. The Superintendent shall notify the employee of the Board’s decision within thirty (30) days. Certificated employees granted a sabbatical leave of absence shall not have their status changed or reduced in regard to placement on the salary schedule, accumulated sick leave or continuing contract. Insurance benefits may be retained by the employee on sabbatical leave by the employee assuming the cost of the premiums. Employees must apply for sabbatical leave under this provision no later than March 15 of each year. Upon completing Sabbatical leave, teachers shall return to their original positions, or an equivalent position in their field of certification. Only one (1) sabbatical leave of absence shall be considered every five (5) years for each individual. Granting such leave shall be contingent upon the district’s ability to employ a qualified replacement.
2. Certificated employees on approved sabbatical leave of absence shall notify the Superintendent in writing no later than March 15 of intent to return the following school year. Failure to provide information by March 15 would be indication of intent not to return and contract rights may be terminated.
Sabbatical Leave of Absence. 1. The agency head may approve an employee request for a sabbatical leave of absence every ten (10) years of continuous service under the following conditions:
2. The employee has a minimum of five (5) years of continuous service with the MOA;
3. The sabbatical does not exceed ninety (90) calendar days;
4. The employee is not required to exhau st his or her annual leave account;
5. The employee has requested the sabbatical absence at least three (3) months in advance. The employee is not required to provide any reason for the request, however, the employee cannot request a sabbatical if the reason for the sabbatical meets the conditions under Section 4.18, Family Leave.
6. Health insurance coverage is maintained during periods of paid leave.
7. If the employee wants to continue heath insurance during periods of leave without pay, the employee is responsible for paying the premium; and
8. The employee is not entitled to leave accrual during any period of leave without pay.
Sabbatical Leave of Absence. An employee may be granted sabbatical leave from duty for the purpose of taking a course(s), or for educational opportunities, which is/are considered desirable as a means of enhancing and improving upon the effectiveness of the employee's current or anticipated duties. Such sabbatical leave may be granted at the discretion of the Employer. A request for a sabbatical leave must be submitted to the Employer with as much notice as possible in advance of the proposed sabbatical leave. Applications shall be made in writing, including a description of the course(s) to be taken, and the duration of the sabbatical leave. The employee shall have the opportunity to support the request through discussion with the Employer. The length of sabbatical leave shall not exceed twelve (12) months. Such matters as Manitoba Nurses' Union priorities (for example, Annual Meeting, negotiations) staff coverage and equitable distribution of the opportunities will be considered in the granting of sabbatical leave. Should sabbatical leave be granted, the following financial arrangements would be applied for the duration of the sabbatical leave:
Sabbatical Leave of Absence. (1) Sabbatical leave will include that period agreed upon and will not exceed one (1) contract year.
(2) Sabbatical leave will be for a program directly related to the principal's area of proficiency and endeavor. The program may be schooling, travel, or research.
(3) Selection of principals will be made on the basis of a determination that personal capabilities as well as general teaching and educational practices will be improved.
(4) Applicants will have a minimum of six (6) years of service in the district.
(5) One principal may be granted leave during any one (1) period of time.
(6) The application form will be submitted to the superintendent or designee by March 1 preceding the contracted year for which the leave is requested.
(7) Final decision will be made by the superintendent or designee with the approval of the Board.
(8) A principal accepted for leave must guarantee, in writing, that the principal will return to the district for a period of not less than one (1) full year or refund the total stipend, unless the district agrees to release said principal without obligation.
(9) A principal on leave will receive fifty percent (50%) of the salary scheduled for that period of leave. Payment of the salary will be by monthly stipend, which will be forwarded to the principal on the regular monthly pay day.
(10) A principal on leave will receive the benefit of all provisions of tenure and salary schedule.
(11) A principal on leave will submit, at least quarterly, a progress report including official transcripts, if applicable.
Sabbatical Leave of Absence. A sabbatical leave of absence shall be governed by the provisions of 105 ILCS 5/24-6.1 of The School Code of Illinois. The Board shall pay the fringe benefits in effect when the leave was granted. Applications for a sabbatical leave shall be submitted to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources prior to March 1st of the year prior to that for which the leave is requested. Any proposed modifications in leave plans filed with the Board shall be submitted to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources immediately upon deciding to request such modification.
Sabbatical Leave of Absence. 20.1 For a member of the professional staff who has been an active member of the Glastonbury Public Schools staff for a minimum of seven (7) years, the last three (3) of which shall have been consecutive years, a sabbatical year’s leave may be granted for a minimum of one academic semester and a maximum of one academic year for professional improvement, as detailed in a planned program of study, combined travel and study, research, or writing and publication. Application for such leave must be submitted in writing to the office of the superintendent of schools no later than November 15th of the school year prior to the year for which the request is made. The application shall include a statement of the definite purpose for which such leave of absence is desired.
