Retirees over the age of 65 are responsible to apply for and pay for Medicare B coverage (primary) with the Medicare B provider. At such time, district provided coverage under its plan will become secondary. Employees retiring after June 30, 2014 who are age 65 or older will be required to pay an amount equal to one-half (50%) the current Medicare B rate to the Syracuse City School District for individual coverage under the SCSD health plan. Effective January 1, 2016 all Medicare Eligible retirees (65 years of age and over or disabled) will be enrolled in the District’s Medicare Advantage (MA) health care plan and Employer Group Waiver Plan (EGWP) prescription drug plan.
Retiree Health Insurance Coverage. Employees who retire under the conditions of disability in accordance with the Corpus Christi Firefighters Retirement System or Social Security or under regular retirement under the Corpus Christi Firefighters Retirement System or under Social Security after ten (10) years of continuous service with the City, along with their participating dependents covered on the last day of employment, shall be eligible to continue participation in the City’s CitiCare Fire Health Insurance Plan at monthly premiums subject to periodic changes in rates as required in the agreement. The total cost of such continued coverage shall be paid entirely by the employee and/or spouse. The spouse’s rights shall continue after the employee’s death, but shall terminate upon divorce. Coverage shall remain in force for the retiree while paid until he or she becomes eligible for Medicare or reaches age 65 at which time coverage in the CitiCare Fire Health Insurance Plan will cease. While the retiree remains in the City’s CitiCare Fire Health Insurance Plan, or fully insured plan offerings for Medicare eligible retirees, coverage shall remain in force for the spouse while paid until he or she becomes eligible for Medicare or reaches age 65 at which time coverage in the CitiCare Fire Health Insurance Plan shall cease. Coverage shall remain in force for the retiree’s participating dependent children while paid until they become ineligible as defined in the plan at which time coverage in the CitiCare Fire Health Insurance Plan shall cease. Medicare eligible retirees and their Medicare eligible dependents will be eligible to participate in the City’s fully insured plan offerings for Medicare eligible retirees.

Unit members who retire on or after July 1, 2003 will not be eligible for health insurance coverage through the District in retirement unless they have at least 10 years of service in the District and are otherwise eligible for coverage pursuant to the rules, policies, procedures and by-laws of the Empire Plan and the District. 2. Any employee who commences employment as a full-time classroom or special teacher, school psychologist or school social worker on or after July 1, 2007 will, upon retirement from the District, be required to contribute 15% toward the cost of individual and/or family health insurance retiree coverage. Any employee who commenced employment as a full-time classroom or special teacher, school psychologist or school socialworker in the District prior to July 1, 2007 and who is employed by the District on or after July 1, 2007 will, upon retirement from the District, be required to contribute toward the cost of individual and/or family health insurance retiree coverage at the contribution rate of 10%. This contribution rate may change after the expiration of this contract depending upon future agreements, resolutions of the Board of Education and/or changes in the law. 3. The District will contribute at the statutory minimum rate toward the cost of retiree medical insurance for an employee who separates from District service for reasons other than retirement and later retires and obtains retiree health insurance benefits through the District.

Retiree Health Insurance Coverage. 9.E.1 In accordance with the NYSHIP Rules and Regulations an employee retiring from Corporation service may delay commencement or suspend his/her retiree health coverage and the use of the employee’s sick leave conversion credits indefinitely, provided that the employee applies for the delay or suspension, and furnishes proof of continued coverage under the health care plan of the employee’s spouse, or from post retirement employment.
Retiree Health Insurance Coverage. All sworn officers retiring after twenty (20) years of police service may elect to continue healthcare, dental and vision coverage until reaching the age of sixty-five (65). The Village shall offer retirees and their family the option to participate in any of the current plans offered by the Village to employees, subject to their contribution of premium costs, the cost of which shall not exceed the Village’s cost for coverage. The Village reserves the right to change insurance carriers or benefit levels or to self- insure as it deems appropriate, so long as the new coverage and benefits are substantially similar to those which predated this Agreement. Prior to implementing any change, the Village shall notify the Chapter at least thirty (30) days prior to any change and, if requested, schedule a meeting to discuss any changes. The Village shall comply with the Illinois Police officer's continuance privilege (215 ILCS 5/367g).
