Section 9.3. Emergency leave shall 45 be deducted from sick leave specified in Section 9.1.1 herein. Emergency leave is provided to cover 46 required absences from work to deal with situations which are suddenly precipitated and for which 47 preplanning cannot relieve the necessity of the absence. Such situations must be of major importance.

Emergency Leave is defined as leave for a problem 32 that must not have been anticipated and must be of such nature that preplanning was not possible, or 33 where preplanning could not relieve the necessity for the employee’s absence. Emergency leave when 34 possible must have prior approval of the Superintendent. The Superintendent may grant exceptions 35 when prior approval is not possible.
Section 9.3. Emergency Leave. 3 Each employee shall be entitled to one (1) day emergency leave paid per year with approval of the 4 supervisor or Superintendent. This day is neither sick leave nor bereavement leave and is 5 noncumulative. Additional emergency leave may be taken due to a problem that has been suddenly 6 precipitated or was unplanned or where preplanning could not relieve the necessity for the employee’s 7 absence. Such additional leave shall be deducted from sick leave.

Emergency Leave approval of the supervisor, employees will be granted emergency leave when an event or unforeseen 11 combination of circumstances calls for immediate action on the part of the employee and which cannot be 12 attended to outside the employee's regular hours of work. Such leave shall be deducted from sick leave.
