This Section 18.1.3 is intended to mean that for any person no matter what the person’s prior experience or how hired by the District, the person’s class seniority starts at zero the day of appointment to a School District position in that title and begins to be calculated from that date. An employee’s Class Seniority does not revert to zero following recall from an Employer initiated layoff within the twenty-four (24)-month recall rights period specified in 18.4. This definition of class seniority would be used for all layoff decisions.

ABSENCES FROM WORK. Contributions shall continue to be paid on behalf of an eligible Employee during any absence on paid leave such as annual leave, long service leave, public holidays, personal/carers leave and compassionate leave, but the Employer shall not be required to pay superannuation contributions on behalf of any eligible Employee during any unpaid absences except in the case of absence on workers' compensation (refer clause 8.2.2).

Subject to the requirements and efficiency of operations, permission for such leave will not be unreasonably denied. 23.02 The Company may grant to an employee who has five (5) or more years of continuous service with the Company a leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority for a period not to exceed three (3) months, once every four (4) years. ABSENCES FROM WORK. A team member who fails to attend for a rostered shift on the day before or the day after any Public Holiday shall forfeit wages for the day of the absence unless the Company is satisfied that the team member’s absence was caused through illness or other reason.
ABSENCES FROM WORK. Unless otherwise specified in this agreement requests for lieu time, vacation, floating holidays and any other types of leaves of absence will be granted provided that TCHC can meet its business requirements and commitments. ABSENCES FROM WORK. 17.1 Employees unable to report for their scheduled normal work day because of personal illness or injury (Article 13, Xxxx Leave, Jury Duty, Leaves), because of illness or injury in the employee’s immediate family (Article 13, Xxxx Leave, Jury Duty, Leaves), shall notify a designated supervisor as soon as practicable, prior to the state of their scheduled normal work day, and give reason(s) for the absence and the expected duration of the absence. Employee’s failure to give notice or who do not have a valid explanation of the reasons for failing to give notification may be subject to disciplinary action as provided by Article 15, Disciplinary Procedures. 17.2 Failure to report for work without notification for three (3) consecutively scheduled normal work days may be considered a resignation by the Employer on the part of the employee. 17.3 All absence reports as requested by the Employer shall be submitted on the form provided by the Employer and filed in writing at such times as the Employer shall require.
