Section Bereavement Pay. Full-time and part-time employees averaging twenty-four (24) hours or more per week in the four (4) weeks preceding the bereavement, may be granted time off from work, with pay, to a maximum of three consecutive scheduled work days, in the event of death in the immediate family. The length of such time off work shall be determined the Company, provided the employee attends the funeral. The term "immediate family" shall mean spouse, common-law spouse, parent, step-parent, child, step-child, brother or sister, mother or father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandchildren and grandparents. In the event of a death in the employee’s immediate family (i.e., father, mother, sister, brother, wife, husband, child, grandparent, in-law, step-parent, step-children, grandchildren), an employee shall be given the necessary time off work and will be paid three days’ pay provided that the period between the day of death and the funeral are working -days.

Section Duty Pay If an employee is called and is required to serve on jury duty or as a crown witness on his normal working day, the Company agrees to pay difference between the employee’s regular daily pay and the amount of jury duty or crown witness pay received.

Three days bereavement pay will be granted an employee who takes time off from his regular work week because of a death in his immediate spouse, mother, father, sister, brother, son, father-in-law, mother-in-law, step-parent of the employee or his spouse, step-brother, step-sister, grandmother, grandfather, grandchildren, grandmother or grandfather).

Section Jury Duty Pay If an employee is called and is required to serve on jury duty or as a crown witness on his normal working day, the Company agrees to pay eight (8) hours’ pay per day at the regular hourly rate of pay for hourly rated employees and ten (10) hours’ pay per day at the regular hourly rate of pay for highway drivers, less the amount of jury duty or crown witness pay received.

In the event of legislation being enacted subsequent to the signing of this Agreement invalidating the application of any Article or Appendix hereto, the relative section only of t h i s Agreement shall be nullified.
Section Bereavement Pay. When a death occurs in a regular employee's immediate family, such employee will be granted, upon request, a period of time off for bereavement. Such employee will be paid at his regular straight time hourly rate of pay for hours lost from his regular schedule for each working day lost for reasons related to the death to a maximum of three

When death occurs in the employee’s immediate family, a seniority employee, on request, will be excused, and after making written application therefor, receive payment for the number normally scheduled eight hour days of work as indicated below (including scheduled Saturdays (exclusive of overtime premium) but excluding non scheduled Saturdays, Sundays and holidays) within the ten calendar day period immediately following the date of death, provided the employee attends the funeral.

The term shall mean spouse, parent, child, brother or sister, mother- or father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandparents, common law spouse, stepparents, stepchild and grandchild. One day off, with pay, will be granted to an employee in the event of the death of aunt, uncle, niece, nephew or grandparent-in-law. The Company shall provide one day off without pay, to a person who attends a funeral of a person who is not a member of the employee's immediate family.
