Shortened Days Clause Samples
The 'Shortened Days' clause allows for the reduction of the standard notice or waiting periods specified elsewhere in a contract. In practice, this means that actions such as termination, delivery, or performance that would normally require a set number of days' notice can be completed in a shorter timeframe if certain conditions are met or if both parties agree. This clause provides flexibility and responsiveness, enabling parties to expedite processes when necessary and better adapt to changing circumstances.

Shortened Days. The rehearsal day may be reduced to only one (1) continuous call of five (5) hours. The requirements for breaks in Clause 24:03(C) or 53:01(A) shall be in effect. This option may be exercised by the Theatre, or the Director, with the consent of the Artists. This option may be exercised by the Artists, after a secret ballot by the Artists in the company and the Director, with no less than a two-thirds (2/3) majority in favour. The Theatre or the Director may elect to revert to standard rehearsal hours, on twenty-two (22) hours notice. This option may not be exercised more than once during a rehearsal period without the Theatre’s consent. Except with the agreement of the Theatre, this option is not available in Theatres operating in repertory, or mixed companies, nor does it apply to the production week.
Shortened Days. On the days of Open House activities, shortened instructional days shall be provided for all K-12 teachers. A shortened day shall also be provided for all K-12 teachers for the last school day of the year on which students are present. Shortened and/or modified days for students, other than Open House for K-12 and graduation for the 9-12 programs, do not affect the length and time-frame of unit members' regular 7.25 and 7.5 hour work days. All unit members are required to return for evening activities to complete their contract day when such shortened days as Open House and Graduation are scheduled.

Shortened Days. 5.5.1 Shortened day shall be 235 minutes at primary, 249 minutes at intermediate, 240 minutes at middle school, and 246 minutes (including passing periods) at high schools. Shortened days at high schools during finals shall be 247 minutes. Extended Kindergarten may not exceed the primary day.
5.5.2 One (1) shortened day shall be provided on the last teaching day of each quarter or trimester for the purpose of preparing grades and reports in all schools. In no case shall a teacher be required to submit grades and reports prior to 3:15 on the last teaching day of each quarter or trimester. For the elementary level these reports and records days shall be beyond those granted in 5.5.3.
5.5.3 At the elementary level, six (6) shortened days shall be scheduled for parent conferences at the end of the first quarter or trimester. Five (5) shortened days shall also be provided at the end of the third quarter or second trimester for parent conferences; if the principal and staff agree, these days may be waived. The scheduling of these shortened days shall be determined at the school level by the site administrator and the school faculty within the dates prescribed in the school calendar. Such parent conferences are to be held only on those days provided for that purpose.
5.5.4 In schools and classes wherein the students are transported daily, the scheduling of the days and times of these conferences must be done within the limitations of transportation services.
5.5.5 At the middle school level, grades 7-8, six (6) shortened days shall be provided and used as follows: Four (4) days to be used for reports and records at the end of each quarter. Two (2) days for in-service education to be arranged by the principal, with a consensus of the school staff required.
Shortened Days. On early dismissal days prior to a holiday and shortened student days, as a result of a late start and/or early release for inclement weather or other reason, and when teachers are not required to be at work for the full day, paraprofessionals will not be required to be at work when the teachers are not required to be at work, with no loss of pay.
Shortened Days. The faculty at each site will determine whether to participate in a shortened day schedule. In order to provide for a shortened day, the other four days would be lengthened to make up the time. The Wednesday of each week shall be designated a shortened day. The student instructional day shall end one hour earlier than on the other four days. The purpose of the shortened day is to allow unit members an opportunity to meet for the following purposes: • Thematic Planning • Staff Inservice • Special Projects • Other Educational Related Topics/Activities The focus of three Wednesdays per month will be at the discretion of the district, and the fourth will be at the discretion of the teaching staff for the remainder of the 2013-2014 school year. In the event that there are five Wednesdays in a month, the district will have the ability to determine the focus for three of the five days. In the event that there are three Wednesdays in a month, the district will have the ability to determine the focus for two of the three.
