Unscheduled Sick Leave. 1. An unscheduled sick leave incident shall be defined as any continuous period of absence due to illness or injury. One absence equals one incident regardless of the length of time of absence. Any sick leave incident in which the employee submits a statement from a health care provider verifying the illness or injury of themselves or a family member(s) shall be considered a scheduled absence.

Unscheduled Sick Leave. Sick leave shall be considered "unscheduled" when the employee provides less than twenty-four (24) hours’ notice of their absence from work. However, in the event an employee becomes suddenly ill and that illness requires several days absence from work, the first day of related sick leave, if the employee provides less than twenty-four (24) hours’ notice, shall be considered "unscheduled". The subsequent and related consecutive sick leave taken shall be considered "scheduled".
Unscheduled Sick Leave. A regular full-time employee shall notify their immediate supervisor at least thirty (30) minutes before the start of the scheduled shift. If an emergency prevents the employee from meeting this notice requirement, the employee must notify their supervisor as soon as possible thereafter of his/her inability to report for duty. Employees are required to keep their supervisor informed of their anticipated return to work.

  • Extended Sick Leave When sick leave extends for more than 25 consecutive working days, the appointing authority shall initiate the following procedure:

  • Sick Leave Pool is intended to provide security after all other insurance benefits have been exhausted, by allowing employees to buy insurance for extended illness, or other disability. When "buying" pool days, employees convert earned days on a one (1) to three (3) basis. Similar to purchasing insurance, the employee may pick a given number of days to exchange for coverage in case of extended disability. Pool days are available for use only under the conditions listed below, and are not eligible for payout at retirement or termination.
