Use of Vans. 1. A memo will be sent to each site principal once at the beginning of each school year and if a change in principalship occurs, in regards to the agreement of how the site vans are to be used and directs them to ensure that this agreement is strictly adhered to. 2. The sites will be provided a common logging document that they are to use for documenting each and every use of their site van(s). This log is to be sent to the transportation department on a monthly basis as indicated on the existing memorandum of understanding. 3. If the log is not sent by the school, the log is not completed correctly, or it is discovered that a van was not used as per agreement, the van(s) shall be moved from the site to the transportation area for checkout by the school site for a one month time period after first offense. If a school site does not strictly follow the agreement for a second time, the van(s) shall be moved to the transportation department for the remaining portion of the school year. 4. Once a year an item shall be on each of the Principals council’s agenda to remind the principals at each site to follow the understanding and to deal with any possible violations of the agreement. By placing this language in the contract both parties agree that previous MOU’s outlining these issues are no longer in place.
Use of Vans. The district may use a maximum of six (6) vans per day driven by non-bargaining unit drivers for school activities on any day, limited to three (3) vans per destination. The third van may be used when it is essential due to staggered schedules. Special trips sponsored by outside organizations shall not be considered as subcontracting or covered by the terms and conditions of this agreement as long as non-district vehicles are involved, e.g. a trip to a State Tournament using a charter service. No regular route will be replaced by the use of these vans. Forty-eight (48) hours notification will be given when substituting a bus trip with a van trip.
Use of Vans. Trips utilizing school vans will first be offered to regular bus drivers according to Section 24.03. When no bargaining unit member driver is available, according to Section 24.03, the district may choose to utilize team coaches to drive the trip. This provision is only permitted when the number of students transported is 7 or less. Only one van may be used for transportation per event. Furthermore, this provision applies only to trips driven on Monday through Friday.
Use of Vans. The vans shall be used solely for transporting qualified paratransit passengers as defined by Federal regulations and SFMTA-approved criteria.
