Assigned Time. The first-line supervisor/manager, with the approval of the next higher level administrator, may assign a unit member during working hours with his/her concurrence, to a class, course, seminar, workshop or similar activity for the purpose of having the unit member learn specific skills needed in the execution of the unit member's job.
Assigned Time. Assigned time is the total time of each class period/block plus one (1) interval of passing time per period/block in the high schools. Assigned time includes homeroom/advisory.

17.1 The number of unit members elected to the Academic Senate will alternate between five representatives and six representatives, in two year blocks of time.
a. Each unit member appointed or elected to serve on the Academic Senate shall receive a stipend in an amount equal to 60 hours per academic year, exclusive of intersession terms, paid at the corresponding non-classroom hourly rate of compensation from Exhibit B.

Assigned Time. 17.1 For the 2015-16 and 2016-17 fiscal years, there will be five (5) associate faculty members of the Academic Senate. For the 2017-18 there will be six (6) associate faculty members. 17.2 Associate faculty members appointed by the Academic Senate to serve as voting members of standing collegial governance committees of the District shall receive stipends in an amount equal to 0.66 LHE per academic year, exclusive of intersession terms, paid at the member’s respective rate of compensation per LHE. As defined in the governance organization structure, the standing District governance committees are: Academic Affairs Budget and Planning Courses and Programs Institutional Program Review Student Success In the event of a conflict between the list above and Article 2.5, the list above shall prevail.
17.3 An associate faculty member appointed by the co-chairs of the Institutional Effectiveness Committee shall be paid on a per hour basis at his/her Noncontractual Faculty Work Hourly Rate from Exhibit A based upon time sheets to be submitted by the co-chairs.
17.4 Associate faculty members may accept non teaching assignments approved by District Administration such as, but not limited to, subcommittees or designated work related to student learning outcomes and assessments or other activities determined to be beneficial to the College, which do not exceed the maximum assignments permissible under section 7.1.c of this agreement. Any such assignments are voluntary on the part of the faculty member. A decision by a unit member to not accept a nonteaching assignment shall not be considered in the assignment of classes or in future nonteaching opportunities. All academic, nonteaching assignments shall be compensated per assigned LHE in accordance with the appropriate salary schedule. Assigned Time. (a) Each full-time teacher shall be assigned a maximum of 6.0 periods of credit and/or credit-equivalent courses or equivalent duties in SERT, Library or Guidance with a maximum of 3.0 periods per day.
(b) Each full-time teacher may also be assigned additional professional assignments (APA’s) comprised of either on-calls, supervisions, student mentoring and teacher mentoring. The maximum annual professional assignments for any full-time teacher shall not exceed: 2005-2006 72 half periods including a maximum of 36 on-calls. 2006-2007 68 half periods including a maximum of 34 on-calls. 2007-2008 64 half periods including a maximum of 32 on-calls. Each teacher will be assigned no more than 2 half-periods of APA per week. When a teacher is assigned an APA such assignment shall be at the beginning of the period or at the end of the period and shall be for a maximum of one half-period.
(c) On-calls may be assigned for coverage of a class or classes for a teacher who is absent. On-calls may not be assigned to replace a teacher absent for two (2) or more consecutive days, commencing with the second day, except in emergency situations where every reasonable effort has been made to hire an occasional teacher and none is available. Where the need for an on-call is known twenty-four (24) hours before the start of the school day requiring the on-call, teachers will be notified of on-call assignments the previous day. Every effort will be made to notify teachers of supervisions and on-calls as far ahead of the assignment as possible. An on-call/supervision may consist of supervising one or more classes in the cafeteria or other appropriate location. No teacher will be required to supervise more than three classes at one time. On-calls/supervisions shall be equitably assigned. Records of such assignments shall be posted in each school monthly and a copy of the record of assignment shall be forwarded to the Bargaining Unit at the end of each month.
