Accruals of Sick Leave. It is agreed that uniformed employees hired on or after October 1, 1977, and covered by XXXXX XX shall receive sick leave accruals as follows: Employees who work twenty-four (24) hour shifts shall accrue sick leave at the rate of nine (9) hours per pay period of on-the-job duty or approved credit for eight full shifts of work. Other employees shall accrue sick leave at the rate of four (4) hours of leave per pay period of on-the-job duty. It is agreed, however, that during the first twelve (12) months of employment, the employee may take up to a total of six (6) shifts off with pay for illness or injury; provided that they agree in writing to pay back the time to the City within a twelve- month period. It is also agreed that employees on a modified duty assignment, or temporary Administrative Assignment, shall not have their sick leave accrual rates adjusted until such time the employee is in that assignment for six (6) months. At the beginning of the next pay period accrual rates will change to the 40-hour accrual rates. The leave accrual change will not be retroactive.

Accruals of Sick Leave. It is agreed that uniformed employees hired on or after October 1, 1977, and covered by XXXXX XX shall receive sick leave accruals as follows: Employees who work twenty-four (24) hour shifts shall accrue sick leave at the rate of six (6) hours per pay period of on-the-job duty or approved credit for eight full shifts of work. Other employees shall accrue sick leave at the rate of four (4) hours of leave per pay period of on-the-job duty. Sick leave time shall not vest or be available to any employee until he/she has worked for the City a minimum of ninety (90) days. It is agreed, however, that during the first twelve (12) months of employment, the employee may take up to a total of six (6) shifts off with pay for illness or injury; provided that he/she agrees in writing to pay back the time to the City within a twelve-month period following the 90th day of employment.   • Uses of Sick Leave a. Sick leave shall be accrued before being taken, provided that an employee who participates in a sick leave pool shall not be prohibited from using sick leave otherwise available to the employee through the sick leave pool. b. Sick leave shall be authorized for the following: i. The employee's personal illness or exposure to a contagious disease, which would endanger others. ii. The employee's personal appointments with a health care provider. iii. The illness or injury of a member of the employee's immediate family, at the discretion of the supervisor. Approval of requests for use of reasonable amounts of sick leave for caring for a member of the employee's immediate family shall not be unreasonably withheld. "Immediate family" means the spouse and the grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, and grandchildren of both the employee and the spouse, and dependents living in the household.

  • Sick Leave Pay A Nurse granted sick leave shall be paid for the period of such leave at her or his regular hourly rate of pay and the number of hours thus paid shall be deducted from the accumulated sick leave credits of the Nurse.

Payment for unused sick days will be made to the employee upon that employee’s early or full service retirement or, upon the employee’s death, to the employee’s estate. Employees eligible for early or full service retirement who resign from employment and do not receive a retirement benefit, shall forfeit all rights to payment for unused sick days. b. Employees, who have a balance of less than 250 unused sick days as of June 30, 2002, will receive payment for 50% of the employee’s accumulated unused sick days up to a maximum of 250 unused days at their average daily rate*. c. Employees who have a balance of unused sick days greater then 250 days as of June 30, 2002, will receive payment for 50% of the employee’s accumulated unused sick days up to their June 30, 2002, unused sick leave balance, at their average daily rate*. d. Payments for unused sick days in amounts greater than $5,000 will be paid in equal amounts over five consecutive years beginning with the year of retirement. e. Payments for unused sick days in the amount at $5,000 or less or for the death of an employee will be paid in a lump sum to the employee or the employee’s estate in the year of retirement or death.

  • Accrued 100% sick leave The use of sick leave under this subsection is at the employee's discretion.

  • Reinstatement of Vacation Days - Sick Leave In the event an employee is sick or injured prior to the commencement of his/her vacation, such employee shall be granted sick leave and the vacation period so displaced shall be added to the vacation period if requested by the employee and by mutual agreement, or shall be reinstated for use at a later date.
