Acting in Senior Capacity. 13.4.1 When employees are authorized in writing by their Supervisor or delegate to temporarily replace other employees in a higher paid position or take on higher levels of responsibilities for one half day or more, they will receive the greater of:
a) the rate of pay that is equal to 2 steps higher than the rate they were at in their previous positions provided that this rate is not higher than the maximum rate for the acting positions; or
b) the minimum of the new scale.
13.4.2 When employees are required to replace incumbents of higher paid positions outside the bargaining unit, they will receive the greater of:
a) a rate of pay that is 15% higher than the rate they were at in their previous positions, provided that this rate is not higher than the maximum rate for the acting positions; or
b) the minimum rate for the positions.
13.4.3 When acting in positions outside the bargaining unit employees will continue to be subject to all of the provisions of the Agreement.
13.4.4 Acting capacity is intended to cover periods up to 30 consecutive working days.
13.4.5 If acting capacity is for a period longer than 30 consecutive working days, the position will be posted and will be filled as provided in Article 3.2, Filling Vacancies, and the work will only be available to the employees in the area in which it is offered.
13.4.6 Seniority will be applied in determining preference for acting in senior capacity.
13.4.7 Supervisors will advise all the employees in their departments in writing, by email if available, of the employee who has been authorized to act in a senior capacity during their absence.
13.4.8 Employees acting in a senior capacity will be appraised during the period of appointment taking into account:
a) quality of work;
b) conduct;
c) capacity to work harmoniously with others;
d) ability to meet work performance standards set by the College.
13.4.9 Performance appraisals for employees acting in a senior capacity will not be used for disciplinary purposes.
Acting in Senior Capacity. Any employee covered by this Agreement who is required to accept the responsibilities and carry out the duties incident to a position or rank senior to that which they normally hold shall be paid for the senior position or rank while so acting.
Acting in Senior Capacity. (a) Any employee who is paid hourly and who is placed temporarily in a higher rated position than the employee's regular position, shall be paid the higher rate of pay whilst so employed in the higher rated position, provided that this Clause shall not apply to Xxxxxxx or Sub-Xxxxxxx, unless they are specifically appointed as such by the City Engineer.
(b) On every occasion that an Inside employee is temporarily required to accept the responsibilities and carry out the duties incident to a position covered by this Agreement which is senior to the position which the employee normally holds, the employee shall be paid for every day the duties of the senior position are carried out at the minimum rate in the scale for such senior position, except where the salary received in the employee's own position is equal to, or exceeds, the minimum of the senior position in which case the employee shall receive the next higher rate in the pay range of the senior position. For the purpose of this section, appointments of Inside employees to a level of higher responsibility must be authorized in writing by the Head of the Department.
Acting in Senior Capacity. (a) Any employee (hourly rated) placed temporarily in a higher rated position than their regular position, shall be paid the higher rate of pay whilst so placed.
(b) On every occasion that an Inside employee is temporarily required to accept the responsibilities and carry out the duties incidental to a position covered by this Agreement which is senior to the position which is normally held, the employee shall be paid for every day that they carry out the duties of the senior position at the minimum rate in the scale for such senior position, except where the salary received in their own position is equal to or exceeds the minimum of the senior position, in which case the employee shall receive the next higher rate in the pay range of the senior position. For the purpose of this section, appointments of employees to a level of higher responsibility must be authorized in writing by the employee's exempt supervisor.
Acting in Senior Capacity. Any employee placed temporarily in a higher rated position than their regular position, shall be paid the higher rate of pay whilst so placed. Such acting appointments must be authorized in advance by the Employer.
Acting in Senior Capacity. When an employee covered by this Agreement is authorized in writing by his/her department head or the President to replace another employee temporarily in any one superior position for any period of seven hours or more, the salary of the employee is increased by two (2) pay steps or to the minimum of the new scale, whichever is greater, provided however, that under no circumstances shall such employee receive a rate of pay beyond the maximum of the new scale. The seven hours, or more, may be accumulated in one continuous block or may be accumulated over five consecutive working days.
Acting in Senior Capacity. 13.4.1 When employees are authorized in writing by their Supervisor¹ or delegate to temporarily replace other employees in a higher paid position or take on higher levels of responsibilities for one- half day or more, they will receive the greater of:

13.4.2 When employees are required to replace incumbents of higher paid positions outside the bargaining unit, they will receive the greater of:
(a) a rate of pay that is 15% higher than the rate they were at in their previous positions, provided that this rate is not higher than the maximum rate for the acting positions; or
(b) the minimum rate for the positions.
13.4.3 When acting in positions outside the bargaining unit employees will continue to be subject to all of the provisions of the Agreement.
13.4.4 Acting capacity is intended to cover periods up to 30 consecutive working days.
13.4.5 If acting capacity is for a period longer than 30 consecutive working days, the position will be posted and will be filled as provided in Article 3.2,
Acting in Senior Capacity. When an employee is temporarily assigned by the manager or appointed delegate to perform the duties of a higher rated class, the employee shall be paid the rate of pay for the higher rated class for the time spent performing such duties. An employee who acts in a higher-rated class for four (4) or more regular hours in a day shall be paid the higher rate for the entire regular day.
Acting in Senior Capacity. 13.4.1 When employees are authorized in writing by their Department Head or delegate to temporarily replace other employees in a higher paid
(a) the rate of pay that is equal to 2 steps higher as reflected in the attached (Schedule A-3) Acting Pay or Pay Rates on Promotion, than the rate they were at in their previous positions provided that this rate is not higher than the maximum rate for the acting positions; or
(b) the minimum of the new scale.
13.4.2 When employees are required to replace incumbents of higher paid positions outside the bargaining unit, they will receive the greater of:

Acting in Senior Capacity. 1. When an employee covered by this Agreement is authorized in writing by his/her department head or the President to replace another employee temporarily in any one superior position for any period of seven hours or more, the salary of the employee is increased by two (2) pay steps or to the minimum of the new scale, whichever is greater, provided however, that under no circumstances shall such employee receive a rate of pay beyond the maximum of the new scale. 2. When an employee is required to replace the incumbent of any one superior position beyond the scope of the bargaining unit, they shall be paid an additional minimum amount equal to fifteen per cent (15%) of their normal rate of pay, or the minimum rate for the position, whichever is greater, subject to the qualifications outlined above. When assuming a position beyond the scope of the bargaining unit the employee shall continue to be subject to all of the provisions of the collective agreement.
3. Acting capacity as above is intended to cover periods up to thirty (30) consecutive working days. Should such replacement be for a longer period, the position shall be posted in accordance with Article IV, Notification of Vacancies. XIII APPLICATION OF SCHEDULE (Cont'd)
