Annual Service Credit. A qualifying member shall receive an annual service credit payment based upon the member’s number of uninterrupted and continuous years of active, full-time service as a sworn, regular full-time officer, regardless of rank, in the Genoa Township Police Department, which service credit payment will be made in the following manner:

Annual Service Credit. Employees shall receive, in addition to other pay called for herein, an Annual Service Credit payment based on completed years of service according to the following table: Effective January 1, 2022 Service $ 5 through 9 years $1100 10 through 14 years $1350 15 through 19 years $1600 20 or more years $1850 At the member’s option, payment of some or all of the Service Credit shall be deposited into the member’s Health Savings Account (HSA). For each year of service beyond four years, this amount shall be increased by one hundred ($100) dollars for each additional year of service up to a maximum of two thousand six hundred ($2,600) dollars. If a member separates, other than for retirement, he or she shall be paid a pro-rata share of the annual service credit for the year if in good standing at the time of resignation. Good standing exists unless one or more of the following apply:

The increase in the hourly rate will be multiplied by (.5), and then multiplied by the number of hours in excess of 40 worked in each work week by the employee. A lump sum check reflecting this additional overtime will be issued with the second regular paycheck in January of the following year. For the purpose of this Section, completed active service shall include approved City paid military leave.
