Benefits Continued. A) Employees with one (1) or more years of service who are laid-off shall accrue benefits for twenty (20) work days and shall have their benefits maintained for the balance of a one (1) year period of time. (Reference Article 37 – Leave – General.)
B) Employees with less than one (1) year of service but more than three (3) months of service who are laid-off shall not accrue benefits for twenty (20) work days but shall have their benefits maintained for one (1) year period of time.
C) Probationary employees who are laid-off shall not accrue benefits for twenty (20) work days but shall have their benefits maintained for three (3) months.
D) For the first twenty (20) work days of lay-off as expressed in (A) above, the Employer shall continue to pay premiums under the Medical Plan, Extended Health Care Plan, Dental Plan, Long-Term Disability Plan, and Group Life Insurance Plan. For the balance of a one (1) year period, or the time periods expressed in (B) and (C) above, whichever is applicable, employees who remain laid-off may continue to be insured under the above named plans upon payment of the appropriate premium to their Employer at such times as may be required pursuant to the said plan(s).
Benefits Continued. For post probationary employees the Employer will maintain an employee on her/his coverage, if any, on BC Medical, Extended Health and Dental for the first thirty (30) calendar days after her/his date of lay off.

Benefits Continued. 49.09 Coverage in the plans listed above is available to members on approved Leaves of Absence granted in accordance with the terms of this agreement. Premium costs become the responsibility of the member for the duration of the leave except as provided otherwise in this agreement. Arrangements for such coverage must be made with the Board no later than two (2) weeks prior to the commencement of the leave.
Benefits Continued. Employees who are laid off shall continue coverage for insured benefits to the end of the calendar month in which the layoff occurs. Thereafter, employees may continue such coverage at their own expense while they maintain recall rights, provided they have requested to be eligible for relief work. Benefits will be discontinued in the event that an employee has not paid premiums on or before the first day of the month for which benefits are being provided.
Benefits Continued. If covered participants choose extra options, the employee is responsible for the additional cost of the options to be paid directly to the provider.
Benefits Continued. 45.05 The following benefit plans will be administered by the Board and the full premium costs are the responsibility of the member:
A. Dental Insurance - Single or Family Plan Part C - Orthodontic
B. Long Term Disability
45.06 The remaining portions, and/or full cost of the premiums as the case may be, of the Plans listed above, shall be paid by the members by means of equal payroll deduction.
45.07 All ten month employees shall be covered by the benefit plans listed above for the summer months. The employee’s share of the premium payment for the summer months shall be deducted in equal instalments throughout the school year.
45.08 The agreement to pay the cost, in whole or in part, of a group benefit plan, shall not be construed as an intention or obligation on the part of the Board to pay or provide the benefits under such group plan to any member should the insurer fail or refuse to pay or provide same, in whole or in part.
