-Bereavement/Family Illness Leave. The employer agrees to provide to employees covered by this contract leave without loss of pay as a result of death in the family, not to exceed two (2) days for 24 hour personnel or five (5) days for 8 hour personnel. This may be extended to three (3) paid days of absence for 24 hour personnel or seven (7) days for 8 hour personnel with the approval of the Village Manager. In case of illness in the immediate family, one (1) day of absence for 24 hour personnel or three (3) days for eight hour personnel may be approved by the Fire Chief. Immediate family shall be construed to be any employee's mother, father, step-mother, step-father, wife, husband, daughter, son, step-daughter, step-son, sister, brother, step brother, step-sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, ,son-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, grandparent-in-law or any relative of the employee's spouse listed in the above relationships.
