Cash in Lieu of Health Insurance. Employees (who would otherwise be eligible for health insurance) who do not elect to be covered by any Board-paid health insurance or any Board sponsored health insurance plan in the District shall receive additional salary in the following amount: If four or fewer employees elect the option - $900.00/year If five employees elect the option - $2,000.00/year If six or more employees elect the option - $2,500.00/year The number of employees electing the option shall be determined at the close of business on the last day of the open enrollment period. The total amount shall be made in two payments. The first payment shall be paid to the employee in the second payroll in January. The second payment shall be paid to the employee in the second payroll in June.

Cash in Lieu of Health Insurance. Within the provisions of the annuity carriers, the Board will supply to the employees who apply: Individual eligible employees covered by this Agreement may elect to take cash in lieu of the hospitalization insurance provided above. The election by individuals shall be made for the life of this Agreement at a prescribed rate of $3,000.00 per year, prorated over a twelve (12) month period. Once the election is made; the individual will be retained on the annuity program unless serious circumstances come about (such as death and/or disability cases of a spouse or other reasons) for which the employee becomes the permanent head of the household needing the hospitalization coverage.
Cash in Lieu of Health Insurance. If an employee’s spouse has health insurance coverage, the employee may opt to choose cash payment in the amount of $1,800.00 in equal monthly payments for 1-person eligibility, $2,400.00 in equal monthly payments for 2-person eligibility, and $3,000.00 in equal monthly payments for family eligibility. If a spouse becomes a non-covered person, the employee may enroll immediately. Employees who choose this option rather than the health insurance shall be bound by the rules and regulations of the District’s Cafeteria Plan, COBRA and any other applicable law(s), rule(s) or regulation(s). Employees taking this option shall have the same dental and optical insurance coverage offered other employees of this group.

Employees shall be allowed to switch from hospitalization to the cash in lieu of health insurance during the open enrollment period only.
