Complaints and Discipline. A. Any complaints (except charges of criminal conduct or administrative complaints of a nonacademic nature) regarding a member of the bargaining unit made by any parent, student or other person, and impelling some official cognizance by the Superintendent, shall be promptly called to the attention of the employee in order that the employee may rectify the situation or answer such complaints.
B. The bargaining unit member will be first notified of the charges to be proffered against him/her and will be entitled to have representation of his/her own choice present during the discipline session.
C. Every effort will be made to treat professional staff in a professional manner.

Complaints and Discipline. 1. Any complaint regarding an employee made to any member of the Administration by any parent, student, or other person which is used in any manner in evaluating an employee will be called to the attention of the employee within two (2) school days of the complaint. The employee will be given an opportunity to respond to such complaint.
2. No employee will be disciplined without just cause.

Complaints and Discipline a. Within six months of the Effective Date, MPD shall ensure that an effective process is in place to consider complaints regarding MPD conduct in the schools, including school-based arrests. MPD shall ensure that community members, including students and parents or guardians, have access to complaint forms to express concerns about MPD. To achieve this outcome, MPD shall ensure that complaint forms are available from the MPD and at City Hall, public libraries, and police stations. MPD shall also make the complaint form available on its website and work with the Meridian Public School District to make forms available at the schools. Compliance Rating as of January 2018 June 2018 DOJ Compliance Rating Supporting Documentation Reviewed Substantial Compliance Substantial Compliance N/A DISCUSSION: As stated in prior reports of the Independent Police Auditor, in 2017, MPD revised its Internal Affairs policy to incorporate protocols regarding MPD receipt and investigation of school- based complaints. The complaint forms are available on MPD’s website and at City Hall, Meridian public library, and the police station. Despite the City’s efforts, the Meridian Public School District did not agree to make complaint forms available at its schools. PD remains in substantial compliance with this provision of the Settlement Agreement.
b. MPD shall specifically track complaints arising from school-based arrests. d. Officers who violate MPD’s juvenile arrest policies shall be held accountable through the department’s disciplinary system.
Complaints and Discipline. 9.1 The Bye-laws of the Union provide for a complaints procedure for use by students not satisfied in their dealings with the Union. Complainants not satisfied, having utilised in full the procedures internal to the Union, have a right to refer the matter to the Registrar and Chief Operating Officer of the University for consideration under the University’s Complaints Procedure.
9.2 Complainants not satisfied as a result of the above have the right of access to an independent person appointed by the University. The independent person will carry out appropriate enquiries and report to the complainant and to the University with conclusions and suggested remedies. All parties to any complaint will be informed of its nature and have the right to present written responses or representations, which will be considered.
9.3 Reports of complaints and of suggested remedies shall be made to the University. The University shall determine whether the remedies are appropriate and suggest action by the Union, the University or the complainant as a result. The Union undertakes to implement such remedies promptly and fully.
9.4 Serious offences will be reported by the Union to the Registrar and Chief Operating Officer before Union action is considered or taken. Any University decision to proceed under the University Senate regulations governing student discipline will normally take precedence and any Union proceedings will cease.
