Deduction and Transmission of Fee. After verification by the STATE that an employee must pay the representation fee, the STATE will deduct the fee for all eligible employees in accordance with this . The mechanics of the deduction of representation fees and the transmission of such fees to the UNION will, as nearly as possible, be the same as those used for the deduction and transmission of regular membership dues to the UNION except the deduction will begin in the third pay period of each semester. The deduction will be made in equal biweekly amounts. The total agency fee deducted for each semester will be 85% of the total dues deducted for that semester.

The Board agrees to deduct from the salary of any employee who is not a member of the Association for the current membership year the amount of the representation fee set forth in Section B above and promptly will transmit the amount so deducted to the Association. If an employee who is required to pay a representation fee terminates his/her 10 employment with the Board before the Association has received the full amount of 11 the representation fee to which it is entitled under this Article, the Board will deduct 12 the unpaid portion of the fee from the last paycheck paid to said employee during 13 the membership year in question.

If during the course of the year, the nonmember becomes a UCAN member, the University shall cease deducting the representation fee and commence deducting union dues after receipt of a voluntary written authorization for such deduction on a form acceptable to NJIT.
