Detentions. Detentions will be served the day the Honor Code or Major Honor Code Infraction occurs. Detentions will be served on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 3:00-3:25 pm. Infractions occurring on Thursday and Friday that warrant a Detention will be served on the next regularly scheduled school day. Detentions will be served in a room supervised by a teacher. Additionally, students who receive a Detention will be sent to the School Office and will be required to call their parents immediately.

A student may receive a detention for disrespect, inappropriate language or behavior and/or disregard of school, class or bus rules. In-School Suspension In-school suspension may be issued for: • disrespectful behavior or attitude shown to teachers or any adult working in school. • repeated failure to respond to correction and direction of teachers or any other adult responsible for students. • disruptive behavior that impedes the work of the student, the rights of others, and/or the order of the classroom and school. The student will be removed from all classes and activities during the school day. Students are expected to complete all assignments given during the suspension and may receive partial credit for work completed during the suspension.

Detentions. Where a student receives an after school detention, this will be communicated to parents via email the day before. It is the responsibility of parents to notify the Academy if the detention cannot be served due to prior arrangements. In this instance it may be possible to move the detention to an alternative date A school is a place of work. Students need to appreciate that there is a difference between dress for work and the free self-expression, which goes with dress for leisure time.

Because there are no detentions on Friday, any write-ups given on Fridays will start day 1 on Monday and the student will have until Wednesday to serve the detention. Cell phones, Smartwatches and other Electronic Devices All cell phones, IPads, IPods, AirPods, headphones, earbuds, Smartwatches and other electronic devices should remain in lockers, turned OFF, from the start of the school day (Morning Prayer) to the end of the school day (dismissal). This means that these devices, particularly cell phones and smartwatches, are not to be used (communication, research, photos, etc.), seen or heard (any sounds from phone/smartwatch) during these times. There may be times when any of these devices may be used for educational purposes at the discretion of a teacher. In those situations, students need direct permission from the teacher/faculty member that is supervising them at that time. Teachers must request permission from the Administration in order for students to use electronic devices in the classroom for educational purposes. Students are not allowed to use their cell phone as a “hotspot”. If a teacher/faculty member/administrator sees or hears a student’s cell phone, smartwatch or electronic device, he/she shall ask the student to submit the device to them. If the student fails to do so, it then becomes an Insubordination violation in addition to the Electronic Device violation. The phone/device will then be turned over to administration. Students may retrieve their device from administration at the end of the day. Continual disregard of this policy may result in the phone/device being picked up by a parent (and will not be returned to the student) in addition to further consequences as deemed appropriate by administration. ● 1st -2nd phone/smartwatch violations = device is taken and the student must pick up the phone/watch from the Main Office, detention given. ● 3rd and further phone/smartwatch violations = device is taken and a parent must pick up from the administration. Further consequences as deemed appropriate by the administration may also be invoked. Public Displays of Affection Since these displays pose an undesired distraction, inappropriate displays of affection at any time on school premises or at school-related activities are unacceptable.
