Duration and Pay. For the first sixty (60) working days of absence for any given injury or illness hereunder, the unit member shall be paid full compensation without use of sick leave credit. During this period, any Worker’s Compensation payments shall be endorsed to the District. Allowable leave shall be for not more than sixty (60) days (in any one fiscal year) during which the schools of the District are required to be in session or when the unit member would otherwise have been performing work for the District. Allowable leave shall not be accumulated from year to year. If the same illness or injury extends into the next fiscal year, the unit member shall be allowed to use only the amount of leave remaining from the previous fiscal year. Industrial accident or illness leave shall commence on the first day of absence, and shall be charged by one day for each day of authorized absence regardless of a temporary disability compensation award. After the sixty-day period, the unit member will use that portion of sick leave which, when added to the temporary disability compensation, will equal the unit member’s regular salary. After a unit member has used all available sick leave, the unit member shall be entitled to differential pay pursuant to section C above. At no time shall the combination of sick leave or differential pay, plus a unit member’s temporary disability compensation exceed the unit member’s normal salary.

Duration and Pay. A sabbatical leave may be granted for one semester at full pay or one (1) academic year, or the last semester of an academic year and the first semester of the following academic year, at half pay. A sabbatical leave may also be granted to a faculty member who teaches one half (1/2) of his/her regular standard load in each semester of his/her sabbatical leave for a full academic year or the last semester of an academic year and the first semester of the following academic year, at full pay, except that the College may limit it to one sabbatical leave allowed. Insurance benefits will continue for faculty members while on sabbatical leave.

Employees shall be eligible for unassisted educational leave after completion of the equivalent of three (3) years continuous employment with since their initial appointment, or completion of the equivalent of up to two (2) years continuous employment with since the end of their most recent educational leave or exchange period. If the previous unassisted educational leave was less than the maximum, the waiting period for further eligibility shall be the appropriate fraction (to the nearest day) of two (2) years continuous employment with as calculated on a straight pro-rata basis. Type C and Sessional employees shall be eligible for short-term and long-term unassisted educational leave after two years of continuous employment. Seniority received during their leave period shall be equivalent to the prior academic year.

After sick leave credit is exhausted, the difference between the employee’s and the substitute’s pay rates is paid for five months, the same as for absence due to illness. In no event shall the combination of sick leave plus Worker’s Compensation temporary disability indemnity exceed the unit member’s normal salary.

  • Consideration and Payment The purchase price for the sale of the Purchased Assets sold to the Purchaser on the Closing Date shall equal the estimated fair market value of the Purchased Assets.
