Authorized Absence definition

Authorized Absence. – means, for purposes of Section 499.012(11)(d), F.S., the management or owner of a permitted wholesale establishment has approved in writing in a document that is available for inspection under Section 499.051, F.S., at the time of the inspection, the absence of the designated representative for a period not to exceed 60 calendar days for situations such as: the birth of the employee’s child and to care for the newborn child; the placement of a child with the employee for adoption or foster care; the employee is needed to care for a family member (child, spouse or parent) with a serious health condition; or the employee’s own serious health condition makes the employee unable to perform the functions of the designated representative.
Authorized Absence means an absence from active employment, with or without Compensation, authorized or recognized by a Commonly Controlled Entity under its standard personnel practices applicable to the Employee, including any period of time during which such person is considered to be on a leave of absence while covered by a disability plan of his Employer. The date that an Employee’s Authorized Absence ends will be determined in accordance with the personnel policies of such Commonly Controlled Entity, which ending date will be no earlier than the date that the Authorized Absence is scheduled to end, unless the Employee communicates to such Commonly Controlled Entity that he is to have a Severance from Service as of an earlier date or such Commonly Controlled Entity causes the Employee to have a Severance from Service as of an earlier date.
Authorized Absence means an unpaid, temporary cessation from active employment with the Employer pursuant to an established nondiscriminatory policy, whether occasioned by illness, military service, or any other reason.

Examples of Authorized Absence in a sentence

  • Request for medical leave must be made to management before the sixth (6th) consecutive work day of absence for consideration as an Authorized Absence.

  • Termination of Service may result from Retirement, death or voluntary or involuntary termination of employment with the Employer and its Affiliates, if any, unauthorized absence, or by failure to return to active employment with the Employer by the date on which an Authorized Absence expired.

  • The employee must prepare an Authorized Absence Request Form and present it to the supervisor for authorization either prior to the absence or upon return to work as required by department S.O.P. Absences for full days must comply with Article 20.6. Any employee may be granted a maximum of 45.7 hours of accrued sick leave per calendar year in order to provide required care for an ill child, spouse, other legal dependent, parent or family member, or any other member of the employee’s immediate household.

  • When the closed period starts or ends within the employee’s regularly scheduled shift, only the closed portion can be counted toward an Authorized Absence.

  • Members on Authorized Absence status shall be treated as if they were employed by a non-participating Affiliated Company.


More Definitions of Authorized Absence

Authorized Absence means the temporary absence from the facility by a child who is expected to return to care.
Authorized Absence means an absence authorized by a Participating Company without loss of employment status, including absence on account of parental leave, family leave, illness, business of the Participating Company, vacation, jury duty and military or governmental service, whether or not salary shall be paid during such absence.
Authorized Absence means a leave of absence (without pay) granted to an Employee by the Employer, in accordance with rules uniformly applied to all Employees, for reasons of health or public service or for other reasons determined by the Employer to be in its best interests, including unpaid leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993.

Authorized Absence means absence authorized by the Firm without loss of employment status, including absence on account of illness, business of the Firm, vacation and leave of absence, including leave of absence for military or governmental service, whether or not salary shall be paid during such absence. Any person who ceases to be an employee receiving compensation from the Firm but remains in the employment of the Firm shall be deemed for all purposes of the Plan to be on Authorized Absence without salary until such employment terminates or he again receives compensation from the Firm.
Authorized Absence means a leave of absence from the Employer or any Affiliate for a period not exceeding twenty-four (24) months or absence to enter the Armed Services of the United States during a period of national emergency or at any time through the operation of a compulsory military service law of the United States. Leaves of absence may be granted in the event of illness or accident of an employee or a member of his family or for the continuation of the training or education of the employee. For purposes of this Plan, an employee who leaves on an Authorized Absence shall not be deemed to have incurred a termination of employment with the Employer or any Affiliate solely by reason of his leaving on such Authorized Absence. However, the failure of an employee to return to active employment with the Employer or any Affiliate after a leave of absence or authorized extension thereof or during the period after his separation from military service in which his reemployment rights are guaranteed by law shall be deemed a termination of employment at the later of the date of the commencement of such leave of absence or such military leave or the date for which he was last credited with an Hour of Service. Leaves of absence shall be granted in accordance with the Employer's normal policies and practices in a uniform and non-discriminatory manner. Notwithstanding any provision of this Plan to the contrary, effective December 12, 1994 contributions, benefits and service credit with respect to qualified military service will be provided in accordance with IRC Section 414(u).
Authorized Absence means that the work can be made up and credit will be received. The time still counts against the 9 allowable days per term for attendance.
