Education Eligibility. 26.3.1 The continuing eligibility requirement for employees qualifying under 2.48.171(b)(1)(B) with possession of a Peace Officers Standards and Training Advanced Certificate or a bachelor of arts degree or a bachelor of science degree from an accredited four-year college in an approved field shall be waived. 26.3.2 The parties agree that the following guidelines will be applied for purposes of evaluating Career Incentive Program Applications:‌ 26.3.2.1 Deputy Sheriff or Senior Deputy Sheriff shall submit a completed Career Incentive Program Application to the Human Resources Analyst assigned to the Sheriff’s Office. 26.3.2.2 Establishment of initial eligibility for a Career Incentive Allowance entitles the employee to receive the Career Incentive Allowance through December 31 of that calendar year. In no event shall initial eligibility continue for more than one year. Therefore, eligible employees who do not meet the continuing education requirements in subsequent years and lapse from the Program cannot use the same degree or certificate originally used to establish initial eligibility to reestablish that eligibility. Employees may submit a request to establish initial eligibility at any point throughout the year. Employees submitting a request to establish initial eligibility in the months of October, November, or December may use the one-year initial eligibility period to meet the continuing education requirement for the next calendar year period. Employees submitting initial eligibility requests in any other month throughout the year will be considered to have meet the continuing education requirements for the remainder of that year period only. 26.3.2.3 Employees must present evidence of successful completion of the annual approved education or approved training requirement by December 31 of each year to be entitled to receive a Career Incentive Allowance during the next calendar year (January 1 – December 31). The annual education and training requirements are: Completion of P.O.S.T required training and continuing education or; three semester units or five quarter units of college-level work approved by the Human Resources Analyst assigned to the Sheriff’s Office or; 60 hours (only 8 of which may be video) of approved specialized training or; An acceptable combination thereof within the current calendar year. Service as a qualified instructor for any approved courses or approved training may be substituted on a unit-for-unit or hour-for-four basis. ...

Education Eligibility. As an exception to County Code 2.48.171, the continuing education requirement for the Career Incentive Allowance is waived. The parties also agree to amend County Code 2.48.171 to remove the continuing education requirements for the Career Incentive Allowance. District Attorney Investigators shall submit a completed Career Incentive Program Application to the Human Resources Analyst assigned to the District Attorney’s Office. All college-level courses that are applied to the Program, shall have been taken on the employee’s own time and not at County expense.

Disabled dependents may be able to continue coverage beyond the limiting age if the disability occurred while the dependent was covered under a County-sponsored medical plan or prior to the dependent’s 19th birthday, and is certified by a licensed physician.
