Effect of Leaves Without Pay. Employees who take approved leaves without pay, as described in paragraph (a) above shall maintain continuous service status with the school cafeteria department, providing they return to work for a minimum of thirty (30) days. However, an employee may upon application to and approval of the Superintendent of schools, receive a leave of absence without pay for a period not to exceed three (3) months for the purpose of serving a trial period of employment with another department of the South Xxxxxx Schools or the Town of South Xxxxxx. The trial period may not be extended and at the end of said trial period the employee must return to the school cafeteria position or resign. The employee during this trial period will not suffer any loss of seniority nor will this trial period be considered a break in continuous service for the cafeteria department.
